Imo, the camera performance in daylight is great but the performance in low light condition that is kind of a let down.

Some initial impressions so far :

1.) Size is slightly unwieldy but I'm coming from a One Plus X (5 incher)
2.) Lighter than the X and seems to run cooler. Using a Nillkin cover which adds slightly to the weight now.
3.) Having the bug where the Contacts and Whatsapp are duplicating ie. 2 records for the same person when I open up the Dialer.
4.) Screen scrolling is not looking right, sensitive to lag and I can feel it's not smooth enough. Hope future updates will improve it.
5.) A forum member was asking whether we can swap the Back and Recent keys, I'm doing that with an app, Button Mapper. No stock option to do so unfortunately. Maybe will try to root once stable and see if we can directly edit the keymap.
6.) Notification light is white colour only...seriously? How much more would it cost to get a multicoloured one? Dunno why but it feels really annoying, like a nickel and dime decision.
7.) I do miss the X's hardware slider to activate Priority and Silent mode. Useful when I'm working or walking to a meeting etc.
8.) Any way to get a tap or double tap to wake gesture?

Why on God's Earth you need that when you have fingerprint scanner to wake it?

If you too lazy to pick up the phone, guess you need root to enable it.

Because some of us are actually working in the office, so it's good to tap to catch a glance instead of taking up the phone. tongue.gif

Please don't insult or generalise the use of the phone, not everyone uses the phone the same way you do.

Yes, I forgot to mention you get an option to link the 2 records, but it's on a per contact....so if you have a couple of hundred contacts and doing it manually....not going there for now.

Let's see if they can fix this issue in the future biggrin.gif

Im not insulting because you can just pick up the phone and put your finger on it to turn the screen on. Take about what? A couple of seconds? Mind boggling really when the convenience is there.

This issue was also raised when comparing front vs rear fingerprint sensor. I suppose having it in the front has its advantages as you've mentioned.

The double tap to wake and sleep option was only available in some Xiaomi phones.

I use double tap to sleep with Nova Launcher on my Redmi Note 3 and Nexus 6p ... to reduce wear and tear on the power button.

Ok, we'll agree to disagree then? I just asked for my own convenience, you are free to disregard the question. Cheers! smile.gif

Suit yourself, but if the phone doesnt support it natively usually the battery life would suffer badly if you enable it. From my own experience.

The DT2W argument to save power button life is questionable. Not that much phone have this problems. From my recent memory only early batch of Nexus 5 suffer power button failure after a while.

Ok ... that's not bad. Do let us know when you receive the October update.

Was worried that there will be delays as the updates are being pushed out by Xiaomi themselves due to the camera app and other apps customised by Xiaomi.
*
To be precise, the phone is with August patch and I updated it to September patch manually. I watched a YouTube video mentioning the software update release to this phone will be control by Xiaomi. He was commenting this when he's at the about phone section.
Can't remember he was referring to the build version or something else

To add on:
Not comfortable to hold since I squeeze the phone hard when answering call. Afraid it might skip as I don't have a case now.

I have the duplicate issue too. But that is because Google auto transfer my address book to this phone and then I manually transfer the contact via share it all. Just manually link them and update contacts to Google?

I notice occasionally screen lag too

Guess have to download profile scheduler to silent phone or press the volume button down. Not as convenient as iPhone

Use fingerprint unlock is better imo. Also if u use third party app to lock screen, the fingerprint unlock wouldn't work.

My previous experience with power button on redmi phones:
Redmi note 2: dead after 8 months.
Redmi note 3: a bit unresponsive after exactly 1 year.
Redmi note 4: 3 month already feels unresponsive. Need to press hard which is very inconvenient at times. Luckily this one got DT2W.

Personally, I've experienced this with the first Redmi Note. Thereafter, better to be safe and use software to sleep. MIUI has a widget to do just that, but not available when using other launcher.
