I agree 625 such a bummer....ppl expecting after 650...we gonna get something better rather than 625...yes you can say 625 is cooler draw less power and so on...but the fact of the matter is its slower than 650...why many ppl hates 625....because almost all the manufacturer today use this chip for their brand new midrange offering....yes its not bad....but i ineed to waaaaait another years or 2 to upgrade my 650 to something significantly better like 660....or maybe another 3 or 4 year due to 630 launch...
*
How much slow is still a question. I've been using both and didnt really notice the difference on performance. It is not qualcomm to be blame, since currently there is lack of competition in midrange segment. They are competing on efficiency rather than performance, thus the reason why SD625 still one of the best chip for mid-low budget phone.

If your definition of upgrade is the improvement of cpu performance, then no other way except to wait and wait again. Actually I dont see why SD600-series user should upgrade to another SD600-series to get more performance. The real upgrade is should be SD820.

Why not hoping for lower??

Btw I'm not sure on this one. I'm used to MIUI. Quickball, Dual app, Second space, private data/media.
Probably can have these features by installing third party apps but built in nicer.
Another thing is Mi ecosystem. Auto backup/restore apps when you changing to another MIUI phone is pretty convenient.

The only thing nice is the dual camera but the cameras do not have any image stabilization(OIS, EIS) despite the phone marketed as camera centric phone/flagship camera phone.

Thought?
*
My Redmi Note 4 is capable of EIS and manual mode by enabling camera2.api (need to edit build.prop hence, rooted). Using modded Google Camera it can take better image and videos compared to stock Miui camera. MiA1 should be the same I guess?

QUOTE(evilsmile @ Sep 15 2017, 08:46 PM)
do you have comparison image, Redmi Note 4 stock camera app vs Google HDR+ camera app?

is the difference massive or just slightly better?
*
Sorry I don't have because of some issues.
-Gcam on Miui rom doesn't look as great as in aosp or any custom rom I tried. Looks more grainy. So I don't really use Miui rom.
- On Miui rom, when enable manual mode, Miui camera forced close when use HDR mode, thus if I compare non HDR image with HDR+, ofcoz the latter is better.

I also don't have another unit to test so comparing both are impossible as for now.

QUOTE(UnknownH @ Sep 15 2017, 08:28 PM)
Hoping for Xiaomi will release update to enable EIS on A1. Manual mode too if there isn't. Flagship camera phone is too much for the phone now. Think I avoid/hold A1 for the moment
*
Agreed. They should do that after all the talk about flagship camera smartphone. Xiaomi should at least enable EIS on all Mi series to differentiate them with Redmi.

Is that lifetime only or limited for 1 year or so for cloud storage Google Photos?

*
In the article they said high quality image, not full resolution. Even my Redmi Note 4 have this option.

well lets see if m1a1 have same thing or not?

Nope MiA1 doesnt have EIS. And it uses camera sensor from Omnivision, which is known to supply camera for midrange phone at best. I think last year's Sony IMX298 sensor on OP3 and zenfone 3 are much better than this.

does xiaomi mi 5x have offical global rom?
can we flash mi a1 into miu rom?  biggrin.gif  laugh.gif  whistling.gif
*
Nope. Currently Mi5x already have ported AOSP rom from Mi A1 but its not the same as the Mi A1 rom from official Mi website.

Mi A1 to any custom rom also looks impossible for now since Mi A1 use A/B partition similar like Google Pixel.

The Mi A1 is actually Mi 5X

both are the same, just naming scheme is different in each country when is running MIUI or Pure Android

MIUI = Mi 5X
Pure Android = Mi A1
"technically" is still a quick/fast charging as qualcomm quickcharge 2.0 specs.

5V 2.0A is still exceed quickcharge 2.0 standard biggrin.gif

the OIS is a bummer.....i would have drop my money instantly if its has OIS
*
1- Physically same, but they both have different codename (Tiffany vs Tissot). Thus, you cant directly interchange Mi5x rom with Mi A1 or vice versa.

2- 5v 2A actually is the speed of QuickCharge 1.0.

woow cool... that mean all android devices able to modified the camera to support EiS?  drool.gif
*
Nope, i read it doesn't work on ZTE Axon 7 since ZTE give no support for camera2.api, but i think most brand have no problem with that, including Xiaomi. Even my Redmi Note 4 can enable EIS.

QUOTE(DannyOP @ Sep 24 2017, 01:29 PM)
Should still be able to but need to change the partition, just not so straightforward.
*
Someone ported Mi A1 rom to Mi5x:
http://en.miui.com/forum.php?mod=viewthrea...ghlight=mi%2B5x

However Miui rom for Mi A1 still doesnt exist at the moment.

Can use google camera on a1?
Since it's using dual camera
*
Theoretically yes. Some LG G6 and OP5 users also using this. However, Mi A1 uses Omnivision camera sensor while most other flagship uses Sony sensor. I would say 50-50 it will work since the app does not work properly on Redmi note 4 with Omnivision sensor. Need some white rat to test it later lol.

Yes, agreed, but it would be a hassle to go back to and fro between two camera apps just to use both lenses...
*
It only takes 2-3 seconds to switch apps. And it is unlikely people use the optical zoom feature everyday.

I'm contemplating buying A1 this if its camera is good for my budget (bout 1k) .

Since A1  has the exact hardware spec as Mi 5X.. shall I assume they're both using Sony IMX386 Exmor RS  sensor as stated in the link below:
https://gadgets7.news/specs/xiaomi-mi-5x-fu...tures-77314.php
*
Nope, OmniVision OV12A10 + OmniVision OV13880, unless someone can confirmed the unit sold here are using different lenses.

Suit yourself, but if the phone doesnt support it natively usually the battery life would suffer badly if you enable it. From my own experience.

The DT2W argument to save power button life is questionable. Not that much phone have this problems. From my recent memory only early batch of Nexus 5 suffer power button failure after a while.
*
My previous experience with power button on redmi phones:
Redmi note 2: dead after 8 months.
Redmi note 3: a bit unresponsive after exactly 1 year.
Redmi note 4: 3 month already feels unresponsive. Need to press hard which is very inconvenient at times. Luckily this one got DT2W.

Read the article. It was confirmed working on LG G6 and V20, both with dual camera.
