Hi guys. Interested on the M1 A1 as replacement for my Nexus 6p. Need the double SIM for work.

What's the latest security update patch now on the A1?

Don't expect this to be bang up to date compared to Nexus ... in fact just flashed Oct security update now.

But hoping better compared to my spare Redmi Note 3 which is still stuck on July security patch.

Was worried that there will be delays as the updates are being pushed out by Xiaomi themselves due to the camera app and other apps customised by Xiaomi.

Maybe he means the monthly security updates like Pixel and Nexus.

This issue was also raised when comparing front vs rear fingerprint sensor. I suppose having it in the front has its advantages as you've mentioned.

The double tap to wake and sleep option was only available in some Xiaomi phones.

I use double tap to sleep with Nova Launcher on my Redmi Note 3 and Nexus 6p ... to reduce wear and tear on the power button.

Personally, I've experienced this with the first Redmi Note. Thereafter, better to be safe and use software to sleep. MIUI has a widget to do just that, but not available when using other launcher.

Yes, mentioned in multiple reviews. That's why the software updates come from Xiaomi, not Google ... Like how it is for Pixel and Nexus.

If not mistaken, Oreo will come to the A1 by year end as announced during the product launch in India few weeks back. The key thing is not so much the upgrade to Oreo, but more importantly the security updates from Google.

Can you also take a couple of low light shots? E.g. sunrise, sunset, night time ...

Any camera can do well in bright light conditions.

Major OS Upgrades e.g. Nougat -> Oreo comes once per year.

Security update comes every month ... usually by 5th of each month for Nexus.

Addresses whatever security risks and bugs which are discovered.

E.g. update to address Blueborne was in Sept update. My Xiaomi still on July security updates, hence considered still at risk.

Agree. I use Nova Launcher with my Nexus 6P. Just prefer it over Google Now Launcher

And able to set app drawer background to all black, compared to white in original.

Had Redmi Note and Redmi Note 3. RN3 is my gaming phone while day to day use Nexus.

Don't have the problems which you mentioned when I was using both phones regularly. Photo quality not great but I usually tap to focus to make sure focus on right spot.

Ever tried tap to focus? I usually don't depend on the phone to focus for me to ensure I have good focus on the subject.

Google Play Music is the offical Google music player on stock android. Even for mp3 songs stored in memory card. Takes some getting use to but it does the job.

I flashed Lineage OS onto my Redmi Note 3 yesterday and now I'm running stock android and with up to date security updates ... currently on 5 Oct 17 security patch.

Except for the camera, I think my RN3 now runs as well as the A1 with the more powerful SD650 processor, it has a larger 4000mAH battery and just about ticks all the boxes as the A1 but at much lower cost.

The only downside is knowing how to flash Lineage to the phone in the first place.
