6 cell battery with Radeon x1400 how long would it last ?
9 cell battery with Radeon x1400 how long would it last ?

Can I use my laptop while charging it ?
How many % wear in 1 year if I run my laptop for 8 hours a day with battery ?

And this is mainly because of the cooling system in the laptop. Not suitable for x1600.
*
that mean i will melt the laptop if i use that gc? lol
so, the best gc for 6400 is x1400?
i need to play bf2 or newer game like c&c 3 with at least medium detail. Can 6400 with 7300gs manage to run it at 40-50fps for both of the game?

Honestly, why bother? Why don't you fork out the money, buy the most powerful battery, and live on with it. And by the way, why do people even consider the 7300? It's underpowered and more expensive that the x1400 in Dell's pricing. You should just choose between GMA and x1400

andrew...there's no void sticker in our dell 6400...so yes...u can replace other hardisk which hv higher capacity...just keep the old 1...later if wanna claim warranty....put the old one bck...
do not! i guess ive been repeating this over n over again....do not fully discharge ur notebook battery...all latest notebook come with lithium-ion battery...it is not recommended to fully discharge ur battery!

lithium-ion battery does not hv memory effects like the old 1....fully discharge will only make it worst.... sweat.gif
*
haha... i never knew that ...
i always think that there is always a sticker to pretend void

Well, it depend whether you think is worth it or not. If you are a clumsy person who always drop your laptop or accidentially hit the laptop here and there then I prefer you to get the extend warranty. Else, is it not necessary to extend the warranty.It is recommended to extend the warranty to 3yr on the 1st time purchase. If your laptop already over 3yrs, you might think of buying a new laptop rather than extending the warranty.

Main expensive cost of laptop is LCD screen, motherboard and the processor where we can't really able to buy it from the normal computer shop. So anything happen on this 3 part, you normally need to call the dell to replace it with charges.

The rest of the laptop part able to get from computer shop either replace it as internal/external/portable.

* ATI Mobility Radeon X1400

Technology Features
* 105 million transistors using 90nm fabrication process
* Four pixel shader processors
* Two vertex shader processors
* 128-bit 4-channel DDR1/DDR2/GDDR3 memory interface
* Native PCI Express x16 bus interface
* PowerPlay 6.0 power management technology
* Avivo Video and Display architecture

* ATI Mobility Radeon X1600

Technology Features
* 157 million transistors on 90nm fabrication process
* Twelve pixel shader processors
* Five vertex shader processors
* 128-bit 4-channel DDR/DDR2/GDDR3/GDDR4 memory interface
* Native PCI Express x16 bus interface
* Dynamic Voltage Control

Extracted from ati.amd's website.

Judging by their features it is most unlikely that overclocking can bridge the gap between ATI Mobility X1400 and ATI Mobility X1600. In my opinion, X1600 is far better than X1400; after having a look at Acer notebooks that offer Mobility X1600 (after I bought Inspiron 6400), I can feel the performance gap between both GPUs. By the way, overclocking your laptop GPU is risky business, unlike desktop GPUs.

beside wat Onyx_black is true, u must remmber overclocking = heat increase...n u wont b able to change with better heatsink...u stuck with stock heatsink....which meant ur gc will easily burn! smile.gif

it's better to extend the warranty as laptop parts is not cheap. my friend's 6400 wanna change the hinge & HDD cost around RM590. the Dell warranty service SA recommended him to extend a year CC as it only cost RM584. no fuss no worries. all parts included in warranty. repair/replacement FOC. smile.gif

Alamak, I just found out that the Dell personnel never installed the bluetooth driver for me last time during his reformat. I tried to install using the provided CD but it can't be used :|

Any solutions besides calling them? Or, what's the short cut to turn on the bluetooth module liao? Fn+F10?

Actually,6400 can put X1600.Just dell dont provide it..about the temperature no big diff i tell u.My friend acer dunno wat wat with X1600 GPU runs the same game wif me(NFS Carbon),he at800x600 medium,me at 800x600 also medium.Then i can feel the smoothness for the X1600,while the X1400 is average but if put higher abit settings will start have some lagging isue.And for notebook range..dun have 7300GS GPU..people call Goforce 7300,only plain version cool2.gif If for 7300 GPU,i think the perfomance is crap if play some games like carbon..since my x1400(NV go 7400 also can fite x1400) so weak alrdy..(But still poor perfomance..)

NOtebook GPU cant be overclocked i can tell u..becuz i tried b4..in my lappy..last time no things do,i go try overclock my X1400..when i juz increase few MHZ from the core..the display starts comeout some block..realy shocked me deeply. flex.gif Then i quiclky turn off the LAppy with the off button.So can prove those notebook GPU's architecture not suitable for overclocking even few MHZ .shakehead.gif So nvr expect to push the limits! sweat.gif

Thanks for the comment , so another qustion
I can't find GMA x3100 details and spec at intel website.
If dell really release GMA X3100 how long would it last with 9 cell battery ?
And the GMA X3100 how good the performance ?
