QUOTE(Nando's @ Jul 15 2020, 10:58 AM) Yes, of course. You are changing firmware from official to custom one. Even downgrade official firmware should factory reset too.Based on my test on Merlin firmware, it is very stable. No need to reboot for several days already. Nando's liked this post

QUOTE(jimbet1337 @ Jul 19 2020, 06:23 PM) Yeah confirmed, just checked this in the webiste :384.13 (31-July-2019) - NEW: AiMesh Router and node support. Note that automatic live update of Merlin-based nodes is not supported, you will have to manually update any Merlin-based nodes when a new firmware is available. Asus-based nodes (which is recommended) will be able to make use of the automatic live update. |

Hi guys, need some advice for the setting of GT-AC5300. Currently I'm using Unifi 800Mb.
Router Firware version : 3.0.0.4.384_81974-gb2967e4 Cable used from Modem to Router : Cat 7 I've tested the the internet speed using LAN cable directly with my laptop and manage to obtain full Download and Upload speed. However when I tried to speedtest using my device as below : 1. Laptop with Wirelss AC-9560 160mhz 2. Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Plus In 5Ghz mode, the fastest speed I can get is, 1. If stand directly in front of the router, max is D : 140~150Mbps U : 100Mbps. 2. On 2nd floor, D : 100~110Mbps U : 60~70Mbps only. Previously before few firmware updates, if standing in front of the router to test with the same devices, can easily hit appx D : 500Mbps and 2nd floor can get ard D : 250~300Mbps... Hopefully some experts here can enlighten me with a better setting for this GT-AC5300 so that I can fully optimize the speed and performance of this great router with my Unifi 800Mb~ Million thanks in advance~ |

If so, try to ask at https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2651405 Maybe cause by new firmware itself. QUOTE(cskean @ Jul 24 2020, 12:23 AM) After set it, do I need to restart the router? Not really but it's always a good idea to restart your router after you change some major settingsRemember to set the 80MHz only on 5GHz-1. Leave 5GHz-2 on 40MHz The reason is because some older devices may not support 80MHz |

QUOTE(cskean @ Jul 24 2020, 12:59 AM) Btw, which 5GHz is the gaming mode ya? 1 or 2? The gaming mode can run on any wireless signalBut nevertheless, I don't enable gaming mode on my GT-AC5300 because I don't like the QOS feature If the QOS is enabled, I can never get full 800Mb/s even on Ethernet connectivity The only reason I bought GT-AC5300 was because during it's launch, it's the only router with quad core CPU, 8 Ethernet ports & dual gigabit bonding feature that I use for my home server By the way, did my suggestion to change 80MHz bandwidth fixed your internet speed issue? |

This QOS is very fanicky, in ac1300uhp with QOS on, I also cannot get full speed, but with AC86U no issue at all, works wonder.

For those who are interested to cool AC86U passively, I’ve done it successfully as follows:
1) CPU = 1.8 + 0.5 + 0.3mm 20x20mm copper shim (Sandwiched with Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut) 2) 2.4G CPU = 2x 2mm GELID thermal pad 3) 5G CPU = 2x 2mm GELID thermal pad 4) PCB underside = 5pc, 2mm GELID thermal pad. (Single layer) 4 days average so far: CPU = 59 (Prev. 73) 2.4G CPU = 46 (Prev. 53) 5G CPU = 50 (Prev. 55) This post has been edited by capiche: Jul 31 2020, 08:58 AM |
