Had bad experience with this router that I bought from 11street.my from a shenzhen vendor which I just received last week.

1. 5ghz wifi doesn't work since day 1
2. Updated to latest firmware 3.0.0.4.384.32797 doesn't fix 5ghz discovery problem
3. After i changed region from China to Singapore under advance wifi setting, both wifi and ethernet becomes undiscoverable.
4. After flashing latest firmware with ASUS Firmware Restoration version 2.1.0.1 tool under rescue mode, the router auto restart every 10 second.

Totally gave up on this particular router, requesting exchange. Hopefully the Shenzhen vendor responds. Too bad because I read good reviews from tech blogs but bad feedback in forums.

Dunno the same seller or not, but i bought 1 unit from 11st too, the one with cheapest price that shipped from china, but when i received the parcel it said from hong kong.

Anyway my unit is working fine on dual band, coverage is better on 5gb, but weaker on 2.4 band compare to my old asus 55uhp router.

My 55uhp router work best on 2.4 band wuth superb coverage area, ac86uhp seems to be weaker when i connect it on my bedroom. Maybe becoz of the double long long attenna.

Yeah. Unfortunately after i changed region from China to Singapore under advance wifi setting, the router continuously restarts itself.
But thanks the input, at least I know was in the right direction in troubleshooting.
Now I need to find a way to stop this auto-restart behavior. I'll share it once I get this sorted out.

Sending from M'sia to China for warranty claim is PosMalaysia RM45.
From China to Malaysia is one of the China Logistic company.  Around RM40 also by Air.

newbie i suggest stick with asus stock firmware.

stock firmware also have many feature, except thing like temperature reading, script n etc which is not so useful for average user.

Within RM1k including shipping fee for two units, i bought one unit for RMB 849 during last week school opening sales.

If you're not in rush, maybe can wait for 1111

Been reading this thread from where most of the issues started. Kind of torn between local units or china unit, is the problem "resolved" now or ongoing.

Are you a risk taker? If yes, go for China set. Else pay higher for 3 years local warranty. nod.gif

That's exactly what I'm not sure about. sweat.gif
Stability is quite important as I'm not the one that will use it most of the time while away at uni, and "off-site diagnostic" had been a pain thus far. Well, local warranty can't do 1-to-1 exchange on the first year too and it sure will take awhile for local warranty claim. About a tie.
But that's almost 2 china units for 1 local unit. Maybe I should just toss a coin doh.gif
