QUOTE(hddesire @ Mar 16 2021, 12:13 AM) try disabling QoS, enable NAT acceleration. Also check BTU connection to router, make sure it is gigabit, some BTU model only providing 100Mbps. This post has been edited by neuromancerx: Mar 16 2021, 09:31 PM |

QUOTE(findecano1 @ Nov 23 2020, 06:49 AM) Apologies for the late reply. Extremely busy with work.Unfortunately everything was done in a rush, so didnt manage to capture photo. In general, you'll just need to remove the heatsink (front, back) then cut the heatpad to size. I also agak-agak only. But you may use previous measurement as a guideline. To report back, below is the stats: 2.4G - 46 degC 5G - 50 degC CPU - 59 degC Ambient - 30 degC FW: Merlin 384.19 This post has been edited by capiche: Mar 18 2021, 11:57 AM |

QUOTE(entaro @ Mar 19 2021, 01:20 PM) You might want to flash the beta firmware for nowVersion 9.0.0.4.386.41994 Beta Version https://www.asus.com/my/Networking-IoT-Serv.../HelpDesk_BIOS/ QUOTE Security Fixed: Fixed CVE-2020-25681, CVE-2020-25682, CVE-2020-25683, CVE-2020-25687, CVE-2020-25684, CVE-2020-25685, CVE-2020-25686 Please be noted this is a quick fix beta version for DNSmasq vulnerabilities. Refer to "Method 2: Update Manually" in https://www.asus.com/support/FAQ/1008000 to update this firmware. https://kb.cert.org/vuls/id/434904 QUOTE Dnsmasq is vulnerable to a set of memory corruption issues handling DNSSEC data and a second set of issues validating DNS responses. These vulnerabilities could allow an attacker to corrupt memory on a vulnerable system and perform cache poisoning attacks against a vulnerable environment. The memory corruption vulnerabilities can be triggered by a remote attacker using crafted DNS responses that can lead to denial of service, information exposure, and potentially remote code execution. The DNS response validation vulnerabilities allow an attacker to use unsolicited DNS responses to poison the DNS cache and redirect users to arbitrary sites. |

Need Help! Anybody knows which version of latest firmware is the most STABLE for Aimesh on ac86u twin unit.? Asus original firmware or Merlin? Currently using 3.0.0.4.384_82072. From time to time still need to manual restart both routers.

look guys! what i found after 2 years of using this router as node in my living room inside the tv cabinet. To my horror after i dismantled it to check the heatsink. Phenomena: usually this node in living hall is not so loaded but recently due to emco, my whole family is fully loaded this node since they all online study and WFH at the living hall. It started to slow, wifi signal strength dropped and disconnection. So since too much complaint from family members, i decided to swap the node (B) with main unit (A). So node as main units and main units became node for testing purpose. From here, i checked the log, its keep giving me core disabled time to time. Frustrated since im using original firmware not able to know the temperature reading and using my hand touch the router seem cool. i decided to load merlin firmware to check the temperature (>95c during idle) @.@. So the finding is as per attached picture. Mis-process from manufacturer. Luckily i got copper shim, thermal pad and thermal paste at home. I put copper shim sandwiches with thermal pad with Thermal grizzly Kryonaut between chip and copper shim. Result: Idle temperature is 55c while loaded is 75c. Its stable under loaded at 73c~77c all time. 1st unit is from 1st batch Y2017 manufacturer date on the back label no issue and have thermal pad on cpu chip. This affected unit is Y2018 manufacturer date. Both using is on passive cooling now. I have added cooling fan but didnt use it. If i use the fan now, the temperature will down to 5xc during loaded. Still a very good router. QUOTE(jimbet1337 @ Oct 18 2021, 02:50 PM) Ya wor I didn’t realize so cheap now. AC68U and AC86U price diff less than 50 bucks Then they promoting those AX 2x2 for around same price as AC86U haha. I bought mine in 2019 for RM500 from overseas. Now can get a local one for same price. Not bad. Didn’t even do anything just use stock firmware. Damn stable. |
