You can use NVMe SSD just fine. That PCIe 3.0 x4 means it's for NVMe
What SSD are you going to buy?
*
Either samsung evo 970 or the silicone power or maybe the adata sx8200

Just go with SX8200 Pro
And get a minimum of 512GB, even 256GB is not gonna cut it these days laugh.gif

Hi guys, deciding on a M.2 NVME SSD to be put into B450 Tomahawk Max mobo

XPG SX8200 PRO 512GB RM418 vs
WD BLUE SN500 500GB RM389 vs
WD BLACK SN750 500GB RM489

Heard a lot of recommendations on SX8200 unfortunately the shop I'm buying from doesn't carry SX8200. Is the WD Black SN750 better than SX8200 PRO?

WD Blue is SATA no ? Dont think it is NVMe.

Either way, I think you can easily get 1TB NVMe at 600 plus, why not?

performance wise, WD black no better than Adata.
However, IMO, real world....unless you go measure, any SSD will still fly past you... tongue.gif

Haha my game 75GB + 85GB sucked hard the space.

Including the essential software i always use, its spaces left only 9GB in my 250GB SSD.

Guys, I got a ThinkPad T460 and able to boot to OS on a 64GB USB 3.0 stick. Just wondering which is a better choice(interm of price/gb and USB speed);
a. OS + USB 3.x casing + HDD SSD
b. OS + USB 3.x casing + NVMe SSD

Malas to remove internal HDD SSD as the above will be a portable boot device to other laptop too.

Thank you.

Better get 512GB and above. Below that for this time of year is useless. Lol. Even 2.5" SATA SSD also can ad. Very fast ad.. xD

Fixed it for you
Anyway, about bootable external OS, trust me, you don't need NVMe

I'm using both 2.5" SATA SSD & NVMe SSD for external drives, doesn't differ much
