Hi, im looking for cheap ssd to upgrade my lenovo ideapad 100 15IBD as people from the other notebook group said my laptop is at bottleneck at the moment. Hence, suggest me to get a ssd instead to see the significant changes. Any cheap ssd suggestion?tq

Hi there,

Can I check if the 1TB Pny xlr8 cs3030 is of any good (can last long and decent speed) . Seems a lot of builders use this one, according to specs on website looks good. But I am not able to find a lot of user review including in this forum too.

Currently I was only given the option of samsung which is rather expensive or this pny xlr8 cs3030. The XS8200 Pro also not available unless I buy online.

Anyone uses this and what's the feedback? Thanks.

Both perform identically - it all depends which slots are available on your motherboard or so icon_idea.gif

Also, do note there are many form factors of M.2, where they are defined in 4 digit numbers like 2230/2280 and others:
https://www.pugetsystems.com/labs/articles/...f-M-2-SSDs-586/

M.2 form factors also have different notches in order to prevent insertion of the wrong device in the wrong slot - they are named as Key M and others icon_idea.gif

In the case of laptops however, using a M.2 SATA SSD can be beneficial as you can free up the 2.5 bay for mechanical drives if you need to store large files icon_idea.gif

Sure, you can actually uses M.2 SSDs and a M.2 HDDs (do note some machines may not allow you to use M.2 SATA and regular SATA together this due to shared SATA lanes - check your laptop service manual for this) icon_idea.gif

the SATA lanes are determined by number of SATA ports on motherboard, yes?

No, usually the chipset is responsible for this - in some desktop motherboards if you use a SATA M.2 SSD, a SATA port on the motherboard will be disabled and vice versa:

QUOTE
M2_2 and SATA3_3 share lanes. If either one of them is in use, the other one will be disabled.

Good to see someone is testing this enclosure with this SSD.

I just bought a 512GB SX8200 Pro and planned to get the Orico m.2 name enclosure (10Gbps)

but there is a seller told me that my SX8200 Pro is a NGFF m.2 SSD, might not support by this enclosure, so until now i still haven't buy the enclosure.

Now I see your speed test, I will go and grab one then.

Thanks man~!!! rclxms.gif

sx8200 pro is still one of those with relative better values, https://www.tomshardware.com/news/adata-xpg-sx8200-pro-deal
