Don't laugh, cheap tires do wear off after 2000km. But Light tires cost more than car tires with lifespan less than 1000km. Too expensive to change every 500km…

QUOTE(clickNsnap @ Apr 8 2018, 11:14 PM) Hi all kaki basikal... You do have a rough idea of the size of a folded bike… and the size of your family members. Convert that to liters and see if your car has that much holding capacity.Just wondering any possible to fit 4 units of 16" wheel (or smaller) folding bicycles into a small suv or seden with 4 pessangers... I am having two old 16" China cap ayam folding bike (once the bikes is folded, it is not as compact as new folding bike), menaged to squeeze in the Subaru XV and have a weekend light biking trip, but a family of 4 may have to take turn to ride the bikes. Any suggestion which type of bikes can fit my needs... btw, no budget to get bigger car Thanks in advance! Get a mini bus la. There is a stereotype misconception that Foldies are small. In fact the are not. Foldies can fold down only as small as 2 wheels put side by side… which isn't small, just easier to stow away. This post has been edited by KenC: Apr 9 2018, 12:43 AM |

Let's not limit ourselves to one single brand. Plenty more expensive, budget conscious and same price range flavour to pick.

6 hour to complete 100km. Most people can do it.
But how many times you can repeat continuously is the question. It's not really a burden… it's about getting home in time. Before mam besar lock the gate |

QUOTE(gugukrez @ Apr 26 2018, 12:21 PM) Dear Sifu, For 3~5km, any bicycle-look-alike-object will do. Single speed, 6 speed all can. Just look for a bike that fits your budget, old new used, all can. Can recommend beginner folding bike? short distance travel ard 3-5km for beginner activities.. tight budget You should stay away from odd wheel size. Start cycling as soon as possible. By the time you have a "loose" budget, you will know what to buy. *Ps, don't buy cheap Foldies if you are over 100kg. This post has been edited by KenC: Apr 26 2018, 05:52 PM |

Mudah also a good place to look.
Where are you located? More head up , don't be sway by number of speeds, more speed only give more headaches. Try get shimano gear components. Shimano is the undisputable king of cheap and reliable low end components. This post has been edited by KenC: Apr 27 2018, 09:04 PM |

QUOTE(tcb2010 @ Apr 30 2018, 03:11 PM) Hi guys, All depends on what condition your chain and gear components get.Another question on maintenance..Have u tried the Simple Green Bike Cleaner and Degreaser, for cleaning the chain, gears and chain ring gunks? If yes, how do you go about it...., spray, let it soaked and blast off with water. I intend to do it in a least hassle way without dismantling the chains, derailleurs, chainring and sprockets...in short..everything in tact.. The old school way is brush the chain and everything that come into contact with the chain with diesel/kerosene/spirit/thinner with a 1inch paint brush. Hose it down after brushing. Wipe dry with cloth. A few round if you must. Once you are satisfied, re-lube the chain with whatever lube of your choice. Wipe down the excess lube. No experience with Simple Green but often use dish washing detergent. As for my own bike, I only clean my chain once or twice a year. Don't even have oily problem since I use older than old school home brew wax lube. Dust oso don't stick… This post has been edited by KenC: May 1 2018, 12:04 PM |

QUOTE(tcb2010 @ May 1 2018, 11:18 PM) Thx Fatani and Ken, You did not kill your hub. You degreased and washed off the lube in your hub…I went the lazyman way..degreasing and hosedown without dismantling..but i scrub the sprockets good and proper and i think i screwed the back hub now, probably the crank square taper bottom bracket. There is now some creaky and grindy tiny noise when i pedal.. I think i might have either got the gunks into the hub, or bottom bracket..i cant tell which 100%.. However, when i push the bike fwd with hand, i can hear tiny grindy sound from the back wheel..so, more likely the back hub is shot.. Hub service is needed now i guess. Look up YouTube for tutorial showing you how to lube your hub... Bicycle are ultra robust… 100years of existence has its strength. This post has been edited by KenC: May 2 2018, 05:57 PM |
