Thanks for the decent response-although pretty much non-answers.

Luno doesn't ever sell Bitcoin directly to people.

that is Singapore and totally not same with Malaysia. Things that happan in Singapores =x Malaysia.

Fact of the matter is Coinhako disabled MYR deposits. Coinhako is a multinational. Events in one geographic location can affect their operations in another. Not to mention BNM/MAS work closely when it comes to money laundering.

The fact is you totally can't differentiate both issues.

Luno and Coinhako are total not the same case whereby Luno was not under any notice or warning level. Their account is freeze by IRB and IRB can only practise this right if they fall under certain issues. Read ICA 1967

Hi dirk,
I'm with you on this. I dont quite remember being allowed to set buying or selling rate in myr in luno (last use was a few months before closure though, so memory is hazy).

Here's the ICA 1967. As you can see from the section under Wilful Evasion, IRB is allowed to investigate any account that may be used by 3rd parties for tax evasion. IRB is interested people evading taxes using Luno. The timing of the freezing coincides with the Release Draft of BNM's new cryptocurrency regulations.

ok guys, why dont we focus on when we can trade again? it seems pointless since IRB already did what they did. I hope Luno learnt the lesson.

Now, can Luno give us update (daily if possible) on what they are doing to get back the MBB account or use a new bank account? any date?

To clarify this, actually when you buy Bitcoin using Luno in Malaysia -- there is no conversion into USD. You are directly buying Bitcoin (from a seller) using Ringgit Malaysia.

The price that you see (perhaps at Google or Coinmarketcap) is usually an "average" Bitcoin price across a few benchmarks. There is actually no fixed Bitcoin price, and the price actually differs from Exchange/Country.

With Luno in Malaysia, you will always be purchasing in RM.

Hi Mr Luno

I've been a customer of Luno since 2016. Your presence here is reassuring to me that there is constant communication from the company to the customer. I feel a lot safer (i do have some money frozen in Luno's bank account) now. Let's hope I could withdraw some money for CNY.

you got the point, LHDN & BNM will do their job, if LUNO is guilty they will get punished, we don't have to bother about that..

we just want to know when the deposit-withdrawal works again..

BTC/ETH price in LUNO is not much different than remitano etc now, you can withdraw by transferring btc/eth out from LUNO if you couldn't wait

Why Luno allow deposit money to the account but not able to let us withdraw the money?
Its weird! Does anyone realised that they just open their account for us to deposit the money to
BitX Malaysia SDN BHD in MayBank account?

Bro, which accounts number you deposited to? Your deposit (Money transfer) success in bank?

I just try in their website. The deposit still not available. I take their bank account number and try to transfer through my Maybank Savings Acc. Still prompt error bro.

Mr Luno

A gift of RM5 in BTC to get a friend to sign up is patheticially small amount and out of date. Does it even register?

Totally understand. We are relooking into this, and I hope to have something positive to announce in due time. Stay tuned.

Mr Luno,

Can you add ETH/RM pair and BCH/RM pair?

TQ

Mmmm this could potentially be added in future, depending on demand/volume.

Hi guys, if you're using the Instant Buy/Sell feature, it takes an open order on the exchange, adds a fee to it and then offers it to you. More details here: https://www.luno.com/help/en/articles/11000...fees-and-limits. Again, this is directly buying the BTC from someone else on the exchange, and Luno only takes the fee.

If you'd like to set your own buying/selling rate -- you can do so via the Exchange (not Instant Buy/Sell). We've actually found that most customers prefer using Instant Buy/Sell, but users are of course free to set own prices on the Exchange (however there's no guarantee that that order will match with someone else).

This is going to be frustrating, but we don't have an estimated date yet unfortunately. sad.gif (Also, we really don't want to give an estimated date and then fail to deliver). We will continue to push very hard with Maybank to have this reactivated.

Actually Maybank has frozen the account, so you can't deposit money into it no matter how you try. Whether via App/Cash Deposit/Bank Transfer, it will show an error message.

Just to reassure -- even though the account is frozen, all your funds in it still remains safe and untouched.

Update - We continue to engage Maybank on a daily basis and have had productive discussions on multiple aspects around the industry in general and Luno specifically. Like we mentioned before, the industry growth has taken everyone by surprise and all banks are paying closer attention to entities in the digital currency space.

Apabaler la Maybank ni. WTH? unfreeze already. Don't be greedy.
