QUOTE(fruitie @ Jul 17 2017, 09:27 AM) OT la but now is HODL period. Then, no issue. Quickly go and do it as it will be opened until end of the month only. For long term tethering, I think it's not good for your phone battery. Better invest in a router and not necessary to splurge for E5186 since you are at a rural area, it will not gain much since I presume you may not be to utilize LTE-A. You can buy cheaper router like B310. But if I use a router, I can't utilize the unlimited free calling right? And I'd still need to have a different sim for my phone?

You can plug in a phone to the router and call using it. Or Switch your main line to a cheaper package and register a new plan for Infinite 150.

A question about LTE-CA for the experts here. From what I know CA is like a dual band wifi kinda connection, where it locks to 2 different frequency ( 1800 + 2600 ) in our case, and utilize the bandwidth for both bands. Right now I can get a pretty consistent ~15mbps on 1800, but 2600 is probably giving me ~5-8mbps only. My question is that if I get a LTE-CA compatible modem, would the speec be ~15 + 5 or so, so my average speed would be around 20-23mbps, or would be it lower or higher due to the split traffic? Just curious if spending the extra RM400 to 600+ to get a LTE-CA router would be worth it

I just got my b315 and the speed was merely 7-8mbps (but can get 15mbps if the sim used on my phone). With external antenna now i can get close to 40mbps speed using b315. Happy with it.
