Hi guys,

I need some suggestions. I'm currently on Maxis one plan 98 but I'm thinking of switching to Digi Infinite 150.

The reason for this is, I work in a rural town in Sarawak and the house there doesn't have any internet. In need of some entertainment, but I always end up finishing my Maxis data before it refreshes due to tethering/streaming/video call.

Therefore I'm thinking of the Digi infinite plan might solve this problem for me. Even in the office here, the internet is very bad and almost non existent. So I need a solid connection for me to finish my work and personal entertainment at home.

Would you guys recommend me porting to Digi Infinite 150? I don't mind paying that RM50 extra from the current Maxis plan I'm on.

Thanks

Any of your colleagues is using Digi? Can check out how's the connection and coverage in your place especially when you said it's a rural area. Digi is not strong in rural area but it's one of the preferred telcos in Sarawak, so it may be OK as well.

Since you said you wanna MNP from your Maxis line, then I may not recommend you to buy a prepaid to try and convert to Infinite 150. If you want, that's one of the fastest ways to find out and if nobody around you is using Digi..

Actually most of my colleagues here are using Digi. It's much better than Maxis if I was being honest, especially at the site we work in. However, it's no match to the mighty Celcom but still comes very close.

Would it be an issue constantly tethering my iPhone to my laptop? This is what I'm really worried about. Or should I be looking at getting one of those external LTE modems?

OT la but now is HODL period.
Then, no issue. Quickly go and do it as it will be opened until end of the month only.

For long term tethering, I think it's not good for your phone battery. Better invest in a router and not necessary to splurge for E5186 since you are at a rural area, it will not gain much since I presume you may not be to utilize LTE-A. You can buy cheaper router like B310.

But if I use a router, I can't utilize the unlimited free calling right? And I'd still need to have a different sim for my phone?
