Hello again +3kk!

To make myself clear, you presented a few points why piracy is not wrong, or "morally grey"? i just wanna joint down your argument and so i can firmly debate them, to prevent me to drag on with my speeches too far away from the main issue. Therefore lets see what we have here, shall we?

Point 1:
You said corporates copy each other and the world is okay with it, therefore ppl should have no problem with gaming piracy. You also said that gaming piracy is the same as corporates copying each other, correct? if i misunderstood please point it out.

Point 2:
Gaming industry is in oligopoly state, so corporates are exploiting the general masses. Therefore when people pirating their stuff it is no problem at all as corporates already so wealthy from exploiting the gamers. You said that corporates can get away by exploiting the general masses so people should have no problem with piracy. Again if i misunderstood your point please enlighten me.

Point 3:
After reviewing your posts i found it all only goes to two points above. If i somehow missed an important point kindly joint it down for me please.

Isn't PC already dead? The way i see it, PC is a lot of hardware muscle but hardly any interesting games...it's always FPS, FPS and more FPS. I seriously, don't know what's wrong with PC gamers. Occasionally, there's the racing and RPG, but most are cross platform games anyway. So with consoles, u get to play exclusives Ninja Gaiden, Bayonette and most of the PCs good stuff. Even RTS on PC seems quite dead nowadays.

btw, i refused to pirate any FPS games. It's a waste of cost of the CD IT'S burned on. Just ask Captain Jack Sparrow.  whistling.gif

And I don't give a damn about exclusives games.

And get your facts right, there's more than FPS that are currently on going.
You need to get into communities to know what's going on with PC gaming before claiming such.

Judging by your reply, I guess console are getting more anti-social than ever.
*I guess I should stop here, this isn't PC vs Consoles anyway.

Ah, another "PC gaming is dead"-spouting, ignorant doomsayer.

There's just so many things wrong with that post, that I'm just going to leave it at that. wink.gif

If PC gaming is dead expect few millions or more people on earth screaming

i don't see that, therefore pc gaming is very much still alive.

Innovation is the answer now, with newer hardware being realeased every year, pc gaming can push the boundaries even more than ever.

hello wink.gif

point 1,

what im refering is that that people and corporations dont have problems with copying when it works to their belief. thus the irony and why i cannot hold judgement on it, i have not met anyone that can truthfully claim on the ethical argument that they have not used such products. i dont believe ethics can only be applied to one industry, but if one should be truely ethical all industries should be considered.

point 2,

the term oligopoly is deep, but it explains a lot of your gaming issues and explains what will happen to come. it explains why small companies fail, why the gaming scene is moving to the console. if you really want to understand the true meaning of oligopoly you need to read a book as theres no subsitute to it; but in simple definition its about a few companies controlling a market.

in all sense companies are out to exploit, its written very clearly for years and i even quoted one very famous guy that the corporate world follows like a bible. its is not that people should not have a problem mind you, thats where possibly the misunderstanding and leads to point 3.

3.

i have repeated this possibly as much as you have, and it is a rather simple argument. i cannot hold an ethical candle to piracy, its something like a catcher in the rye situation. i will not champion the cause of piracy nor anti-piracy because i know what will happen on both sides on a marco level. i live in possibly a country that can be considered the nearest ive known to a perfect oligopoly for games and trust me its something you'd not want your beloved corporations to do in msia.

but i didnt come to this conclusion on a basis of a teh tarik session with mates or hop around thinking i got an ori game means i are 1337. i do buy original work if its worth it abd i do "share" stuff it it saves personal value. if you really want to slightly know where the problem is in the industry of pc games, do further reading on oligopoly.

the answers are written clearly in stone, and perhaps after that you might start not to care.

I have nothing to argue on,as it's just a waste of time to keep talking about the same issue again and again.

Lot of us formerly pirates.

Anyway, even flag of Malaysia plagiaries the flag of United States.

Currently, our slogan is also moving towards Obama's "Yes, we can!"

Malaysia, land of piracy.

but to comment about out our flag like that is.. well im no patriot but that made the impression that the 1st thing that came to the mind
to the creator of our flag is the US flag. lol.. maybe he idolize the US military might. invented the atomic bomb, nuke the Jap thus ended their reign of terror in our country.

many flags in the world copy each other, one of the few original flags i can find is libya just a blank green XD

so flags and songs are a different issue here

Pirates will always be pirates. In Malaysia, piracy will not stop because a lot of Malaysians are raised around piracy. We're one of the top country in piracy traffic. So expect none of this to end soon. I used to be a pirate too, when I was younger. Well, I had to actually. RM50 for 3 games VS RM200 for 1 game. Yup..

Plagiarizing song is also an offense.

It's just that no one bother to enforce it against Malaysia.

Just imagine if we plagiarize a living artist's song as our national anthem. Probably get lots of repercussions from the artists.

And for the flag part, I am pretty sure that if US instruct us to change it to something else, we'll probably change it immediately without complaints since 80% our export goes to the US.

effects of piracy:

no gaming company sees Malaysia as a viable place to invest..

sony launch ps3 in malaysia years later than other territories,

whereas US companies are eager to enter the Singapore market.

do we have to import everything from them to keep-up?

Easy answer to original games, Give people a point to buy Ori games~ Internet play is one. An actuall good game is two. DLC is three. Put thos all together and you got a sale for sure.

I just bought AVP from steam anyway. Comes wit a free game so its a good buy.

If we can put aside selfish thoughts (business), "pirating" actually give more opportunity for people to learn. It is similar with Open Source (and put aside laws here). Ultimately people will be more knowledgeable... and in long run human race will be more advanced.

Also products get cheaper as original vs pirated to win the market.

Yeah but nothing is cheap here. Everything is overprice compared to other countries. Tax banyak tinggi woo.. Thats why people choose pirate stuff over original. Monthly income RM2000, 1 original game RM200 = 1 game is 10% of gaji.
