Pitch Issue
I have been asked by several posters to include information on the 'pitch issue' which seems to be limited to French Studio Canal releases. This issue is noticed by some more than others, but there is no doubt that there is a difference and this is most noticable when comparing the HD DVD to their Blu-ray or DVD counter-parts.

Titles which the issue have been noticed on include:
Basic Instinct
Elephant Man, The
Graduate, The
Mulholland Drive
Rambo: First Blood
Rambo: First Blood Part 2
Rambo III
Total Recall

Oh good thing u posted these things about region control..so here's my question. If I get the HD-DVD add-on from Djinn, will it play HD-DVD movies i purchase from Amazon? Is region control similar to that of the Blue-rays?
Thx in advance!

if u see tht amazon warns u about region 1 discs when ordering hd dvd, its probably cos ur ordering a combo hd, and the dvd side of it is region 1 coded. just some info for the uninitiated.

silencer: 300 pq was ok to me. just finished watching extras...but i think forgot to set to 1080p b4 watching...shud get slightly crisper pic if set to 1080p b4 playing the movie.

will be playing hot fuzz in a few minutes. cant wait to check out the 5/5 disc!! drool.gif

and have anyone bought the Xbox 360 HD DVD Player from amazon? is it better to get it from there? wonder can this work with an Asian console?

Waaah this thread sudah jadi pin-up girl liao ah? nice nice.

Yup, HDMI switch will work..but on your question "does the AVR recognise the source differently?"....do u mean on audio processing for the input sources or  recognition of the input source as there wont be any problem for different audio processing but input source is still limited on what is supported by your AVR..sounds really confusing...but the important is..it works....

Yo bro. Thanks for the reply. Sorry been busy lately la ... no time to sembang sembang at LYN. Yea I meant whether the AVR would detect the audio source correctly if it was routed through a HDMI switcher.

Also, because I use a universal controller, I need the AVR to know e.g. that this HDMI signal comes from the DVD player and that HDMI signal comes from my cable TV. Otherwise, the universal controller won't switch to the corrent AVR input source. Hmmmm my system complicated la. Celaka betul.

terra..since u r using it...how do u manage on the the different calibration requirements for your video source..as I believe there will only be 1 hdmi output to your lcd TV..do u override all of the default settings as there is normally only 1 user setting available for every video input source....
*
I tak main calibration. Yea I guess if we calibrated our TV to be "perfect" (e.g. use those calibration tools), then no need to re-calibrate for different sources right? Or I misunderstood u? blush.gif

amazon doesn't ship hd-dvd players outside US. read the terms at amazon. also, you'd have problems with US voltage as I don't believe the SKU is universal voltage adapter.

amazon will not ship any electronic products to oversea...try getting it from e-bay, like what I did for my 360 HD-DVD add on.
xbox 360 HD DVD add on works with all region of xbox 360, with universal power output...u can plug it anywhere in this world.

Waaaa...soo busy....
Boss..different sources requires different calibrations....there is no "ONE" perfect or right setting....like in my situation, xbox 360, HD-DVD, DVD, and PC....with 4 different calibration settings..its a big problem with me if I only have one HDMI output from my AVR to my LCD TV....compared with my current setup...with each sources is output directly to my LCD TV..not a big deal...each sources input allow u to tweak the user setting for the video calibration...

Just ordered Matrix Trilogy and Hot Fuzz. Probably drop by The Curve later and see if there is anything new.

Anyone know is the Ultimate Avengers Movie was a Bluray exclusive?

the blacklisted policy is normally applied for more than two times offense...it seems like they have changed it for the first time offense...dudes....dont use your name anymore when importing media from oversea....they will scrutinized every single of it.....no more importing Po*n....
My advise..fakes an e-mail from those seller stating that it had sent wrong items.....as an answer to that ministry letter..and u r now..in the process of claiming the refunds.....use any necessary excuse as possible...... icon_question.gif

Aiseh. Was looking forward to do that. Looks like I'll have to resort to other means. Someone should run a local HD-DVD rental tongue.gif
