QUOTE(rx330 @ Aug 3 2007, 01:10 PM) ???? sony themsleves even going over to HD DVD? yup ...u r rite.....as the distribution right for most of SONY movie in Europe is handled by different company, and not like Bluray, all HD-DVD disk r Region-free. There will be more titles announced for HD-DVD, and I except the same thing too will happen for HD-DVD exclusive for Bluray, except titles from Universal Studio. Again, I will like to re-iterate that both formats can co-exist for the time being until their numbers r equal or exceeding the sale of DVD...then only, we'll c the true color of all of the movie making companies....tabik or maybe the show is license under some other company in eu? QUOTE(brabus55 @ Aug 3 2007, 05:34 PM) if m not mistaken hd-dvd movies no region locked.. My sharp G7 can output 1080p for gaming and 1080i only for HD-DVD movies through the component input. But, it has no problem to output 1080p resolution for HD-DVD through VGA-DVI-I input (xbox 360- dot to dot/pixel to pixel) and the same goes for my PC connection for 1080p (dot to dot/pixel to pixel)on either DVI-HDMI or DVI-DVI connections...so, I am pretty sure that there wont be any problem for your PC to do the same too....for 1080p resolution at your LCD TV, but bear in mind that not all 1080p LCD TV have a great internal scalar for 1080p on DVI input, which currently is limited to Sharp and Samsung Models...and sorry to say that Sony Bravia X is excluded from the list.Added on August 3, 2007, 5:36 pmeh guys,i know that if we use xbox hd-dvd add on..we can only output 1080i thru component rite?wat if i use the player with my pc and connect to lcd tv via hdmi cable, can i get 1080p? So brabus..kat kampung ke now??????? This post has been edited by silencer: Aug 3 2007, 11:20 PM |

QUOTE(sunauto @ Aug 3 2007, 11:20 PM) Thanks for sharing the info. I didn't know Sharp G7 could do that. For Samsung models, are you referring to their M8 series? The samsung M8 series do not have dvi input, and only the vga input which is limited to 720p resolution...but it has no problem for 1080p resolution through DVI-HDMI input for PC connection, and similar like G7, 1080p resolution fthrough component input (gaming only). Seems like someone here is buying Sammie 1080p..M series..aaaa...... |

(thre are other Bluray exclusive titles imported by Xploted cinema to US too..chx it yourself) And from other site..Transformer is expected to hit HD-DVD on 3rd Dec.. http://www.blahdvd.com/blah/HD_Home.aspx NOTE: more exclusive titles for Bluray will be released in HD-DVD by European Distributors, and might be not released in US for Bluray due to cheaper production and manufacturing costs for HD-DVD Added on August 6, 2007, 2:12 am QUOTE(brabus55 @ Aug 5 2007, 06:40 PM) wahh bro silencer, baru sampai kampung..no streamyx!! 1515 only..damn slow..thanx for the answer..i plan to connect my pc to lcd tv via hdmi from my vga card..juz bought a new lappie, and now toshiba news came out..bankrupt la like this... takpe..if your parents can afford to buy a 42" lcd tv for a student like u..i doubt that u will go bankrupt.... QUOTE(tripleB @ Aug 6 2007, 07:45 AM) Yesterday I was at PC Fair browsing for a new printer, blank discs, and potentially cool stuff (booth babe LOL). Anyway, at the Toshiba booth, I was intrigued by the higher end Toshiba Qosmio laptops, which include a built-in HD DVD drive! They come in 2 variants; the HD DVD-ROM/DVD-RW drive or the HD DVD-R drive. Both models have an HDMI output so you can watch it on a big screen TV. Too bad I don't have an AV receiver that can do Dolby TrueHD or DTS HD Missed the pc fair...too many majlis orang kahwin .... wait until 2008....i believe those built in hd-dvd for notebook will be in mass production by toshiba... |

And I still have the Matrix trilogy to check out as well... matrix will look much better than 300....but i recommend u to watch either king kong or hot fuzz....the 1st class reference PQ for HD-DVD...first i didnt believe it about hot fuzzz..but when i watched it yesterday...it was a jaw dropping experience..... QUOTE(pAnGuInDa @ Aug 9 2007, 01:09 PM) Thanks for the info~!! Since u have the xbox 360.....search the ebay for the add on...thats how i get it at the first place which is much cheaper with free king kong hd-dvd and no tax at all...as it is declared as an external dvd-rom for notebook.... Too bad Malaysia had none official product. Toshiba should consider the "invasion" on Malaysia soon before Sony Blu-ray will win the heart of Malaysian. Import again Tax..... Something I really would like to avoid. I advise u to do the same too if u r really interested to get the tosh hd-dvd player...and I believe the price of current player will be very affordable once the new generation3 of toshiba is coming out before christmas....as I might getting 1 too..but that means another purchase of onkyo 805 needs to be followed up too .. and another visit to ikea for the new racking og those equipment . QUOTE(tripleB @ Aug 11 2007, 10:11 AM) Sigh. I need to ask the opinion of anyone who already has a copy of the 300 HD DVD (and using the 360 as a player). It was only a couple of days ago that I bought and tested the 300 disc. I only tested scene 1 and scene 14-15 in fact. Then I went on my short leave, came back, and wanted to show 300 to a friend. While at scene 14, everything was fine at first. While transitioning to scene 15, the movie started jerking very badly. Then it hanged on me. There was nothing I could do but shut down my 360. When I restarted my 360 and skipped straight to scene 15, it hanged immediately. I also passed the disc to another friend for testing. The scene I mentioned played fine, but in his case, the 360 hanged at scene 17. Now, I have close to a dozen HD DVD movies at this point, and none of them acted like this before. Is my disc faulty, or is there a known problem running 300 on the 360 HD DVD player? Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks. My copy of 300 is working OK too....pls chx the disc surface.... |

QUOTE(tripleB @ Aug 12 2007, 01:34 AM) Ok guys, update: I had tried to call the shop I bought it from (CWF in Cineleisure) to explain the problem. The shopkeeper mentioned that he has not heard of any problems with HD DVD or Blu-ray discs up until that point. He also queried whether I was running it on a player or the 360. I described the full problem to him, and asked whether the store has any return / exchange policies. Understandably, he told me that because such an issue never surfaced before, he'll need to check with his supplier whether anything can be done. I told him that I would lend the disc to a friend for further testing (this was before I posted my problem). wow..talk about a great svc..... The test results were no better on my friend's 360, so I called the shop again on Saturday morning (after making my first post). The other shopkeeper picked up; I explained my problem to him once again. He suggested that I bring over the disc to the store for checking. I also left him my name, which he recognized. He also made sure to relay my message to his colleague. Fast forward to the evening, I walk in the store; the shopkeeper sees me; immediately brings me to the back and hands me a new copy of 300. For some reason, this surprised me very much, since I have relatively low expectations on how they can help me. Maybe I'm too used to being screwed over product returns? On to the new disc: I found no such problems as my first disc. I jumped between scenes like monkey on crack, sometimes skipping tracks, sometimes fast forwarding, and sometimes by using the scene selection menu. I'm happy to report that no halting or jerking occurred |
