I think the biggest motivation for Coutinho if he ever wants to go to Barca was Neymar. They are best buddies. Now it seems that Neymar is leaving Barca for PSG, Liverpool actually must be wary of PSG move in seasons to come since Neymar could possibly influence PSG to get Coutinho. Barca and Spanish clubs look less desirable now since the new tax law.

Foreign "star" players are looking to leave La Liga now after the new tax law... Even Neymar is leaving Barca, i think he've already told his best pal coutinho about the situation in spain now.

Not sure what the new tax situation is in Spain but I doubt France would be any better. If not mistaken, the highest income tier will be taxed up to 45%. Is it better than Spain's?

Lukaku is proven in the PL and not in Europe, I'll give you that. But Morata has never been a first team regular EVER in his career. He has only scored more than 20 goals in a season for the first time last season and has yet to score 20 league goals in a season. While I think Morata has the higher potential, he is far from proven. Keita on the other hand actually played a key role in Leipzig's success. He was arguably their best player as he helped a newly promoted team leapfrog ahead of everyone else but Bayern, that's not luck.

As for why other big clubs aren't in for Keita, sure the release clause next summer plays a role but most big clubs have their priorities elsewhere this summer.

Barca - Looking at a Xavi-esque midfielder like Verratti.
United - Signed Pogba for B2B role. Probably in for a DM instead, Matic or Fabinho.
Chelsea - Eyes on Bakayoko
Bayern - Love their German talent, looking to sign Goretzka on free in 2018. Renato Sanches still might come good.
Madrid - Stacked with Modric, Kroos, Casemiro, Kovacic, Isco, Ceballos
Man City - Pep prefers playmakers like De Bruyne and the Silvas in midfield
Arsenal - Too busy sorting out Sanchez, Ozil and chasing the Mbappe, Lemar dream
Dortmund - Rarely spend big and signed Dahoud instead
Juventus - Chasing wingers (Douglas Costa) this summer and Serie A non-EU player quota
PSG - They have Verratti and Rabiot for the future
*
Sure, RBL surprises everyone, and Keita is arguably their most influential player. Riyad Mahrez, anyone?

Of that list of clubs, MU, Chelsea, Dortmund (and maybe even well stocked MC) are rightly ruled out. But surely if Keita is a player worthy of getting I dont think there's anything that should stop the others to swoop for him. Especially PSG, Veratti and Rabiot are different type of players; Matuidi is 30. When even a club who never hold back splashing the cash is holding back, that says sthg.

I'm ok if we go all out, offering top salary to him next summer after another season of excellence. But this summer, I have my reservations.

Well perhaps you should liken him to Kante and Mahrez to Forsberg instead. No one would bat an eyelid at a 70-80M fee for Kante today.

PSG seem to have bigger fishes to fry though, Alexis Sanchez and Neymar. They want good players but they also want BIG name players to elevate them to the status of Barca and Madrid.

Definitely backup. The problem wasn't signing Robertson. He is cheap and young and for a backup it's reasonable. Problem was all summer Klopp never intended on replacing Milner with a first choice LB. This is not FSG, this is a choice of Klopp. All other targets before Robertson were also backups.

I read somewhere for solanke & Robertson, well, Klopp trust the scouts recommendations

Ok, I forgot about his release clause the next summer. Then the case is pretty clear, RBL dont give shit about the money, they would rather lose him cheaper the next summer instead of accepting higher offer now. Unless we offer them a deal good enough to offset any loss of potential commercial exposure, then the deal is a non-starter now. Besides, really curious about your stance - do we sign him at all cost this summer because it's hard to see him choosing from all the suitors he would potentially attract?
*
Agree. RBL won't sell their "best player". As much as we gave Barcelona the finger when they sniff for courtinho.

Probably the same treatment we are getting Southampton (even if VVD head is messed up atm)

We gave Barca the finger on Coutinho...

Just watch this space. And see how quickly FSG yield to greed.

Only Solanke was mentioned as a scout recommendation, perhaps Robertson was too, but it's definitely not certain. Regardless, still doesn't change the fact that Klopp wants backup to Milner, not first teamer to replace him. Otherwise we wouldn't have been targeting the likes of Chilwell, Sessegnon and now Robertson for LB.

Anybody can remember if Milner ever scores a goal from open play? Apart from penalties, because I can't think of any.

The wants would like to see & I trust Klopp wants
1) LB,
2) a regular injury free defensive midfielder,
3) a centerback that's offers more composure

We made progress on LB, it may not be marquee but in the past we had gems from pebble(s). I think LFC probably spend more (I & all of us hope) on both 2 & 3.

Well, the saying "everyone has their value" will be used if countinho say bye amigos, but atm I think his mind hasn't turned.
Things will definately change if we again not compete like before. In both torres & Suarez cases.

Then I grief.

The fact is they have not and if it does come to fruition, it will not be too late to condemn the conduct even though it is only going to be a futile frustration venting or an asking those who are opposed to your ideology to eat crow type of posts which is in my opinion asinine but valid.

By outwardly posting negative preconceived notions like this about their next moves even though there is little to no indication of it happening accentuated your foolishness and unequivocally further blackballed yourself from many neutral LFC supporters.

Plus, your reply connoted much immaturity

Dude i'm just here to talk football, don't feel sorry just because my posts doesn't contain the decorum and grace you are seeking.

The so called "preconceived notions" are based on 7 years of transfer activities we had under FSG, so it's not completely baseless and mere calumny as what you claimed it to be.

Somebody remind this guy he is in lowyat forum, not in some Buckingham palace forum. Oh please Pardon my scally languageeeee

In buying we all agree that FSG is cheapskate. But in selling, we are forced to sell because player want to leave or the manager doesn't want them.
