Hi guys!

Really need some help here. I'm going to order some decals from japan.
Are decals taxable? I just went to the custom site and according to the MJEPA(Malaysia Japan Economic Partnership Agreement), the import duty is 0%.
Does it mean when I order the decals from japan, I won't be charged for tax?
But I'm confused which one to follow. Some other HS code also said that they charge 20% import duty for decals. blink.gif rclxub.gif rclxub.gif
all tax sifu's please give advice sweat.gif

is it because i ordered for the first time, they let me go through..but then when i purchase for 2nd order, they blocked me?
If like this, then i have to use different name and different address for odering?? Because i'm going to open an online store selling cosmetics, if like this it is very troublesome for me.  sad.gif

Does that mean if I buy more than rm500 worth of decals from japan and have it shipped to malaysia, I won't be taxed?
I'm quite a noobie when it comes to tax and all that. Anybody care to explain which HS code am I supposed to refer to when I ship something from overseas?
Thanks in advance tax sifu's! sweat.gif

haiz.. i have another purchase coming in..

i really dun get that system la~~~

why my first purchase (RM200~), if add that kos tambang dagangan (RM 322), it should exceed RM 500, yet they didn't tax me..

but 2nd and 3rd purchase (RM 330~), they add that kos tambang dagangan, then total amount to RM 650~, then they tax me RM 65~.

so inconsistent..

and now i got another purchase coming in at RM 680~ how will they calculate the tax this time?

somemore fedex de shipping is attached with the parcel.. how they calculate wan~~ sad.gif so lost..

One thing that is possible is that the conversion rate at Custom's side is different with yours. Like my case with CDJapan the price i pay using paypal was 2.8+ , but at custom side they use 3.2+ and calculate my parcel based on the declared value in yen. So the value that i pay was actually different with the one they calculated. Maybe you got lucky and when they calculate your parcel it did not exceed RM500? hmm.gif

i calculated wrong.. without the shipping, if add the 322, it's less than 500..

this means.. they will take your package value (without shipping) +322.. if less than 500, they ignore.. if more than 500, you will be taxed..

that is the best way i can interpret it..

"high value" items even without tax will be stopped and declared.. just "red tape"
try order a laptop over RM5,000.. same issue.. you will be notified that your item withhold pending declaration..

pos malaysia makes some money here to prepare a letter for you (around RM25 or probably more)
red tape... red tape... red tape... really hate becoming a ping pong ball, wish they just digitalize the process and so we can do it online. .

Hi I plan to bring in cctv cameras and hybrid dvr from china and total cost close to $900 excluding shipping,

I saw someone mentioned there should be no sales and duty tax but subject to sirim approval? I thought it only for wireless?

Also, I went on and bought Xiaomi phone from aliexpress but forgot to ask the seller to declare it as sample/gift. Will it be hold by customs later on? Is there anyone experience bringing in a phone or tablets from overseas?

if its stated phone, get ready to get SIRIM, its RM250 for 3 phones minimum.. computer tablets no tax but high value, still need to declare aka customs "hotel". gift or sample, it doesnt matter

Hi fellas,

Been trying to find out if we can import lighters (metal kinds not plastic) into Malaysia? Kastam is closed for the weekend so thought I'd ask around here first. Can't seem to find a direct answer based on the searches.

Thanks in advance!

Hi there, just wanted to confirm before making payment on ebay.
Is Casio G-shock taxable or any charges if I import it from Japan ? for personal use..

Item price is around RM800 and the seller said he wont "mark merchandise values below value or mark items as “gifts” - US and International government regulations prohibit such behavior. "

I tried dutycalculator.com and it stated it is "duty free and is exempt of VAT. "

Thanks biggrin.gif
