Hi.

Read this really informative thread while getting more and more anxious as the pages go by. sad.gif

I've bought 30 pieces of apparels, cost me almost USD300 inclusive of shipping and everything. How much would the tax be? Checked the customs website but couldn't get hold of the list la. sad.gif

Man, I really hope it won't kena tahan at customs lo. If not, I really no more money to pay for those items sad.gif First time buying from US and it kinda slipped my mind on the customs part. Sigh. Sure kena tahan coz the box will be big.

Sigh!

Someone help me! sad.gif

Hi corallinkz,

Thanks for the reply, i noticed your 2nd sentence, "got several item passed", means that even we use Fedex and mark the item as gift, it still have the chance get caught by custom? Mind to share your experience with me?

Thank you
*
from my own experience, i've imported several times xtreamer media player. all shipped using DHL. those guy promised me door-to-door delivery which means, no custom tax etc. so far so good. i got all my good from them without no problem. you should email the seller or DHL guys or any other reliable shipper like FEDEX (also no stuck in custom) about this. they're pretty good in this.

QUOTE(matthornet @ Jan 22 2010, 01:01 PM)
will Ipod in box kena tax? will the lower htan RM500 and gift declaration do the trick? I'm afraid of SIRIM nonsense only, Ipod need SIRIM?
*
no SIRIM. thats for phone only AFAIK.
prbably kene tax. dpends on ur luck lol. they raandomly selected. jz make sure put it as gift + small box.
if kene tax, make sure you knw the tax you're going to pay, which only 10% of the price.

Last time I ordered Audio Technica earphones from overseas and by the time the courier arrived in KLIA, they called me telling me that the item got tax on it and need to pay RM69.
Duty Incurred: RM29.00
BREAKBULK FEE: RM0.00
Doc. & Proces. Fee: RM40.00
Total: RM69.00

What are these? Are they taxes?

Just receive a snacks from Asian Food Grocer San Francisco, USA. No matter how you declare your items, the customs will open the package to make sure the declaration in customs form are correct. Later, the customs will cellotape back your package. In my case, no items missing.

My items took 5 days to arrive on the shores of Malaysia from US using Priority Mail. Got detained at customs (not surprising now, since I saw some of the laws written in their website) and got taxed. I think we have to obey the system, if we need to pay. Pay.

Took me 30 mins to deal with the customs. Quite efficient la to me, as contrary to what people say here. Unless, the officers you are dealing with really suck...

Yeah. Mine was opened too. AT LEAST they cellotape back your package. mine was left open and I have to struggle to carry the big package, risking the items falling out of the box. LOL.

Mine was all in too. Except one of the officers kept asking me "semua baju ke?" until I just took out everything from the box (all 30 of them!) and show it to him. "Nah! Semua baju!" LOL

Oh wells. tongue.gif

has anyone imported car spare parts before? how much duty and sales tax would be.
If sending via DHL, is it possible for custom to open and check it? some forumers quoted that forwarder such as FedEX will send the bought item straight to your door step.....btw the cost of item more rm1k.

So how much did your tax come up to? I'm also thinking of buying clothes from overseas websites, but hesitating now

My clothes costs around USD295 (including shipping) and the tax comes up to about RM310.00. I think it's pretty reasonable though it has burned a hole in my pocket cry.gif

No more CNY celebration for me. lol.

From Singapore , it may cost you small amount compared to anywhere else in the world , but you may have to check those details with Customs Office website.
