IMO, R9F firmware is good enough, as it don't even require the Swiss Manager. Just there is some trick to use..(on P990i R9F)

1) After switch on the Phone, it take about 2 or 3 mins to complete the entire OS boot up. So do not try run any program within these 2-3 mins.

2) Try do not install as many 3rd party app on your phone. (I once took out the memory card, the phone works fine for two weeks dint even single reboot/hang, normal usage as call/sms/mms/wifi+web/ms word file edit/pdf/default game/radi/media player)

Guys ... if I purhase the none APAC model now, later on can it be flash to APAC with chinese input?

dude. sounds like you have a defective unit. the p1i firmware is pretty stable now and yours is nowhere like it. heard similar problems on P990i units too.

i'll try to do a master reset or a SEUS update and see how is thing going during the weekend.

if really got problem then i'll get back to the seller...

not yet. will flash it to HK version which support chinese input. maybe flash it tonight my friend did already. so far so good. so decided to to do it as well .... really wish SE will come out something really fast like pocket pc soon. p1i compare with ppc still slow.

reading chinese character is not a problem
i got it working by following the steps provided in the following links

by the way, P1i user here using what screen protector?
the only screen protector i found around is martin field and a lil google search revealed some complains from other user that martin field SP is too thick that it affected the sensitivity of touchscreen on the edge. advice needed

Are you sure? HTC Touch is more superior in the software site hands-down...But P1i has 3G and 3.2MP camera..thts the only thing..else Touch is way better...

i think that is what he meant. just for certain hardware features only. and that is not including the processor.

The Touch is simply better for one reason alone. That is the use of the Windows Mobile operating system, which is generations ahead of UIQ.
