You have forgotten three things, it has more internal ram and secondly, it has Wi-Fi and lastly, the camera is upgraded to 3.2 megapixels. It won't be surprising if it's slightly on the pricey side but definitely won't be more expensive than W960i. It should be around RM3K plus when it hits the market later this year, probably AP sets are cheaper, who knows.

I also think it will be around that price or maybe even cheaper. Since they used the same design, i wouldn't expect the price to be much.

And if they price any higher than P990i, people might as well go for P990i (less megapixel cam but has the functional flip keypad and bigger screen). I doubt the internal memory will make much difference to the average consumer (consumers who don't surf on forums and find out about all this).

The initial price will be around RM3K, AP sets might be slightly over RM2K but if you can wait more than a year later, you might be getting the same price as P990i AP set. These things ain't costly to make but they're always targetting people who won't mind being the first to own one. That's where all the profits come from, as the product life cycle is reaching its maturity stage, the price will go down rapidly. It will slide further when 1.3 megapixel camera for video calls is introduced later in newer models.

You have forgotten one thing, the US dollar is no longer pegged in Malaysia now so it should be USD900 X 3.4 (current exchange rate) = RM3060, +/- RM100 since the recommended retail price might be USD900 but who knows, maybe they do give discounts for it. I guess based on the price estimation, we can assume that it's roughly the same price when P990i was first launched last time and should be cheaper for AP sets. Knowing SE is famous for slashing the price of their P series after 6 months to 1 year, I guess I'll prefer to wait until it goes down until a very reasonable price range.

After owning a P990i myself, I share the same worries as you. Guess, it's best to give the P1i some stress test to make sure that it's really that stable as the current Symbian OS is quite resource hungry.

I wouldnt bet my money on it. I think that the P1 and P990 shares a similar platform. The P1 has an advantage in terms of bigger memory and a 3.2 mp camera. Other than that it should be the similar. If S.E doesnt solve the bugs in the P990 in the August updates, I definitely would not put my money on the new P1. After what they did us P990 owners, we must be crazy to invest another Rm3k on a similar phone with so many bugs. In terms of memory, doesnt matter if U put in 1Gig of internal memory, what matters is that the platform is suffering from major memory leak.
Another thing is that after they discovered that the P990 is beyond salvation, they scraped the whole phone and made a replacement on the P1. They think we are fools to fall for that. Whats worst they throw out the P990i at dirt cheap prices and that is what makes it worst. Talk about rubbing salt to a new wound. doh.gif
