It depends what you really want in life... the modus operandi of downstream and upstream is very different. In downstream, you have limited budget and most of the time the technicians can tackle the work so you exposure to technical is even more. For upsteam, 95% of the work are done by contractor so basically it is more on planning and do arrangement but of course you still can learn technical stuffs provided that you have to go offshore very often. In terms of marketing value, upstream of coz is more promising.
*
Hey mangoman, thanks for your responds!

During my chitchat session with upstream, the manager mentioned that I have the opportunity to go offshore even though I don't have any technical background, the reason being is for exposure. And they also involve in handling events/forum/talks apart of doing normal office jobs. Then I asked the downstream manager if they have such things, and the answer is no.

I feel like the upstream has more to offer to me.

Based on your experience, can a person receive 2 job offers from two different department at the same time?
I'd love to join upstream but they still haven't confirmed me anything...

hello, i'm new here.. i just had my medical examination last week at Prince Court Medical... the thing is, Prince Court medical staff said that they had email my result to Petronas, but the Petronas staff i contacted said that they does not received my medical result yet.. they cant issued my offer letter because of this cry.gif .. the petronas staff asked me when the hospital staff courier the report and this got me confuse..

does that mean the medical result document need to be post to petronas ?? becuz the Prince Court staff said the result only need to be emailed and they had done that..

Anybody had conduct medical assessment at Prince Court Medical Center before? i would appreciate much if you could share some insight regarding this matter. btw, i'm calling the hospital first thing tomorrow morning .. hopefully they can clarify everything...

Did they refer you to Pusrawi or Prince Court? I was at Prince Court and they didn't give the result to me, they sent it straight to HR.

may i ask, i had done my medical at Prince Court too.. the staff said they will sent it by email.. but the petronas staff said they havent received any report yet and they ask for the date of when the report was courier .. this had me confuse

does the report need to be sent both by email and post? and in your case, how long do you wait for petronas to release an offer letter after the med assmnt?

would really appreciate if you could share some insight regarding this matter icon_question.gif

Hi guys,

HR wants me to start on June 17 reporting straight to PIPE, but I want to start July 1. Is it possible to postpone the start date? Emailed and called HR but they're out of office though.

I know they do PIPE serveral sessions every year. But is PIPE mandatory before commencing the real work? Can I start working first and then attend PIPE later? The reason I ask is that if the answer is no, then I'll know I have no chance to postpone my start date, they won't postpone the PIPE just because of me (unless they do it every 2 weeks, doubtful).

Thanks.

They will email the result to HR on the spot, but the full report will be delivered physically to HR later. PETRONAS' internal doctor will review the full report and give final approval. Should the be no problem with you health, you'll get the offer letter the next working day or a week later, depending on the HR personnel that handles your employment.

It doesn't matter really, you can go for PIPE later. They pretty much have session once a month now, if not back-to-back. But I'll advise to not start any later than July 1 though, to make sure that you'll be entitled for next year's bonus hehe drool.gif

No problem. Some of the HR staffs are new and they don't actually know the real status. I've experience this myself where one is saying the exact opposite from the other. And there's one staff that I have identified with another member here who takes a lot longer than others to process.

Thank you so much bro! Yeah, never thought about the bonus thing, but yes I won't start any later than July 1. smile.gif

Will they entertain my request to delay? Or is the offer final?

probably because July is Ramadhan? there will no PIPE session on Ramadhan, right? might be the reason they want you to do the PIPE session earlier...

You're right! How could I forget that. If they do allow me to start July 1, I might be doing PIPE in August. Hopefully by then hopefully we'll do it together bro.

Hi, I have a simple question. I am told to put my expected salary in my application form to apply for a job in PETRONAS Floating LNG1 (PFLNG1), but I don't know what to put. Can someone suggest an amount or a range of amount to me? For your information, I am a fresh graduate with a master's degree majoring in chemical engineering from an overseas university.
