QUOTE(andyfriends @ Jun 25 2007, 11:33 AM) u are saying that your casper is 7 months, does he mark around? Yea he does not mark around. But he especially like to pee on road bumps when we are out for a walk. I did not teach him to squat and pee, it has always been that way.when he pee, did you manage to train him squart? mind putting your casper pic? i m curious as to how he looks like after reading this thread Pictures are here: http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/284587/+1920 QUOTE(someone_stupid @ Jun 25 2007, 12:45 PM) yea we went to the vet says itz uncurable the growth on the eyeball cornea to be precise though it will not harm the pup Perhaps you want to get a second opinion from a different vet? Anyway if its not so serious, then try not to worry about it. Ask for advice on how to reduce the irritation so he wont scratch so much on the eye. |

QUOTE(jaunty_niel @ Jun 25 2007, 12:12 PM) hey guys, hv a question here. firstly is the ventilation ok for the shelter? Inside may be humid but not hot. Rain doesn't mean it's cool but rather humid if the ventilation isn't good or there's no wind hope 2 get some answers b4 my 5 lil new born pups get take away by the council. they r rott x spitz = rottiespitz [mogrels?] born bout 2 weeks ago. my parents made asked the carpenter 2 make a new shelter for them, which is like a dog house dat fits the mother and the 5 pups. a 50watt bulb is fixed on the "ceiling" to keep them warm, as junnie said. its on 24 hours, as my hometown has the famous name of "raintown", which it rains almost everyday. we gave them puppy's milk as the mother doesnt have enough milk to feed all 5 pups. she's a lil skinny. the pups keep on crying every minute, and we dunno wats wrong with them, even the vet says they're very healthy. eyes open already, think they can see us. they oni stop crying when my bro carries them, n bring them into my house. my mom was a bit angry this morning, she whack one of the small butts cos the pup was crying too loud n its annoying, carried her inside the house, left her in my jack-jack's cage, on the fan. she immediately went quiet. 1. isit too hot ourside that they cant stand the heat and went crying all over? [i don think so cos it always rains, and the shelter is quite cooling. we left towels there 2 keep them warm in case its too cold] 2. the mother doesnt really like 2 go near them, n seldom feed them. y? how can i make her like her kids? 3. the way the pup cry is like crying 4 attention. after some1 pets their head or carry them they'll stop. y? secondly... the mother may be too tired and under nourished to go near the babies coz she knows if she were to be near them, the babies would tire her even more. Please check her nipples to see if there's any infection or not. thirdly...mayb coz they did not get affection from the mom. |

sometimes when its hot my dad will put da big fan for them. the wooden house is not all covered 4 sides. so its quite cooling inside. the mother we're giving the best for her. orijen kibbles 5 cups per day. bought from ikano dat day cos my mom wants it urgent. flaxseed oil + seaweed extract wif multi vitamins. da vet says her nipples r okay. jus dunno y she refuses 2 feed them. |

QUOTE(jaunty_niel @ Jun 25 2007, 12:12 PM) hey guys, hv a question here. Firstly, how big is the shelter? Female dogs need space... normally a breeding kennel should be large enough for the female dog to get some space away from the puppies.hope 2 get some answers b4 my 5 lil new born pups get take away by the council. they r rott x spitz = rottiespitz [mogrels?] born bout 2 weeks ago. my parents made asked the carpenter 2 make a new shelter for them, which is like a dog house dat fits the mother and the 5 pups. a 50watt bulb is fixed on the "ceiling" to keep them warm, as junnie said. its on 24 hours, as my hometown has the famous name of "raintown", which it rains almost everyday. we gave them puppy's milk as the mother doesnt have enough milk to feed all 5 pups. she's a lil skinny. the pups keep on crying every minute, and we dunno wats wrong with them, even the vet says they're very healthy. eyes open already, think they can see us. they oni stop crying when my bro carries them, n bring them into my house. my mom was a bit angry this morning, she whack one of the small butts cos the pup was crying too loud n its annoying, carried her inside the house, left her in my jack-jack's cage, on the fan. she immediately went quiet. 1. isit too hot ourside that they cant stand the heat and went crying all over? Anyway, the puppies feel insecure since the female dog doesn't want to feed them. Also, it may be you and your bro and disturbing the female dog too much. Do you go inside the shelter and handle the pups often? How close and friendly is the female dog towards you and your bro? Some dogs prefer to have more alone time with their puppies coz in the wild, if you look at wolves, the female wolf will never let any other strange wolf into the den that has her pups. She will only let her pups come out when they are about 6 weeks old. So wolves and dogs a slightly similar in nature. It is normal for pups to cry. So you shouldn't whack pups when they are so young, no matter how annoying. The puppies may be feeling uncomfortable outdoors.... even in a shelter, they need warmth. The light bulb doesn't work coz the light bulb has to be 8 inches away only can feel heat. If it is high up, there is no heat for the pups. Most antibiotic creams for dogs are actually available in our pharmacies because it is meant for humans... so you mean I apply the cream on my eye, I am being cruel to myself? LOL....You better get a 2nd opinion. That is not a head cover, a E-collar. Be consistent with the antibiotic ointment, dogs have sensitive eyes. |

means dat the light bulb has 2 b very near?
i sked the female dog would bang it.. the shelter is about 3feetx5feet. the female is quite small in size..she owez walk away from the puppies, go to the front of my house, near the cars, den sleep underneath the cars. isit too hot for the Taz[female] dat makes her go away? even though she moves the pups somewhere elz she wont bother 2 feed them. haven got bac my hometown yet this week, da condition was told by my mother. she's expecting a letter from the council. i think the neighbours complaint. my bro din wanna go near the pups as no matter wat he does they'll still cry, so better stay off. Taz has a good relationship wif us. she allows us 2 feed the pups for her, as the vet says she doesnt hv enuf milk to feed all the pups. she oni nurse the pups once daily. my niehgbour had dogs too, but when the female deliver da pups, she was very aggressive n bit the owner who's trying 2 go near n peep da pups. so i think Taz is okay wif us lookin at her pups. din wanna go too near 2 them oso, cos i noe they wouldnt like it. its my bro who owez feeds da pups when they're really hungry.. |

QUOTE(jaunty_niel @ Jun 25 2007, 09:55 PM) means dat the light bulb has 2 b very near? Well, for heat people would put heater or build the shelter to be warm with bricks.... the light bulb will not work with your Taz around. The heat generated is very little from the light bulb. For reptiles we use red heat light but it eats alot of electricity and the big heat lamps are not suitable since they are very powerful.i sked the female dog would bang it.. the shelter is about 3feetx5feet. the female is quite small in size..she owez walk away from the puppies, go to the front of my house, near the cars, den sleep underneath the cars. isit too hot for the Taz[female] dat makes her go away? even though she moves the pups somewhere elz she wont bother 2 feed them. haven got bac my hometown yet this week, da condition was told by my mother. she's expecting a letter from the council. i think the neighbours complaint. my bro din wanna go near the pups as no matter wat he does they'll still cry, so better stay off. I guess they are crying coz Taz is not with them. They feel vulnerable and insecure without their mom. 3ft by 5ft is ok but I guess Taz doesn't feel comfortable inside. If she is not nursing much, you have to help feed the pups. Puppies need to nurse every 4 hours.... also, did your brother clean their genitals and anus after feeding with a wet cloth? |

haven open their eyes yet..wonder y so long.. she doesnt wanna see the pups like its none of her business. we tried 2 tie her there a while n she was like barking the roof down.. will try putting bricks around the house. its half feet from the ground. owez put something soft near the entrance, in case the baby rolls down.. ya we did clean da genital areas and anus cos Taz will sometimes carry 1 puppy somewhere elz to hide, den bring the puppy bac 2 da house again.. sometimes it nearly stop my mom's heart after counting 1234.. n there;s the number 5 missing.. clean the areas wif a lil warm water + wet tissue for dogs. feeding them every 3hours cos they're oni taking like about 3-4ml each pup. sked dat it may not b enuf cos they cry every 2 hours when they're hungry. |

QUOTE(jaunty_niel @ Jun 25 2007, 10:35 PM) the pups r about 2 weeks old d.. 3 to 4ml? They should take as much milk as they can... if they do not want, they will turn away. Do you let them drink till enough or just ration 3 to 4ml to each pup? A chihuahua pup which is 1 week old takes 14ml of milk a day....at 2 weeks it will take 18ml of milk a day.... so chihuahua is smaller, so I bet Taz's pups needs a bit more... Go for 5ml each time if possible. Also, what brand of milk are they taking?haven open their eyes yet..wonder y so long.. she doesnt wanna see the pups like its none of her business. we tried 2 tie her there a while n she was like barking the roof down.. will try putting bricks around the house. its half feet from the ground. owez put something soft near the entrance, in case the baby rolls down.. ya we did clean da genital areas and anus cos Taz will sometimes carry 1 puppy somewhere elz to hide, den bring the puppy bac 2 da house again.. sometimes it nearly stop my mom's heart after counting 1234.. n there;s the number 5 missing.. clean the areas wif a lil warm water + wet tissue for dogs. feeding them every 3hours cos they're oni taking like about 3-4ml each pup. sked dat it may not b enuf cos they cry every 2 hours when they're hungry. Some puppies open their eyes at 10 days old, some till 17 days old. |

Taz kept hiding the pups. everytime she'll hide oni 1. den when she sees my mom n dad wondering around the garden looking 4 her pup, she'll go n put bac the pup. sometimes she'll leave da pup there for hours if we're not at home. different puppy at a time. any theories 2 explain her behavior? she doesnt like us 2 go near her pups? |
