As per topic. I never write a resignation letter. Can anyone guide me please?

By the way, is it possible to fasttrack the resignation becoz I just realized my company required 3 months notice prior to resignation. I want to make it faster, is it possible? How?

But seriously, templates for such letters r all over the internet, just need to google around a bit, that's all. Its even something simple such as:

Dear blah and blah, I wish to submit my resignation effective on the blah blah for the blah blah reasons.

3 months notice, to fast track, yes its possible, but successful or not depends on your company lar. Talk to your boss about it, giving your reasons, blah blah. If both of you can agree, then u're in luck. Also there may be a certain amount of penalty that you may have to pay back should you leave earlier than the 3 months notice time, also depending on your company.

I think kevler had provide a good template for resignation letter. Mine also about the same as that. Mine is from the my company senior and i still keep that with me.

If you want to leave earlier, then you have to pay back your monthly salary to them.

Below's the sample resignation letter I prepared some time ago *grins* tongue.gif

7 March 2007

<Manager's Name>
<Manager's Position>
<Co Name>
<Co Add 1>
<Co Add 2>
<Co Add 3>

Dear Mr/Ms <Manager's Name>

It is with somewhat of a heavy heart that I am submitting this notice but circumstances require that I resign as <Current Position> effective <Effective Date of Resignation>.

The past week has been a difficult time for me as I deliberated the direction of my career and whether it would be best served staying on at <Co Name> or moving on with another employer.

It has been my genuine pleasure to work for <Co Name> during these last <Year of Service at current company> years. My experience here has been rewarding and productive and I wish only the best for you, and for the Company.

I will be happy to help train my replacement or do anything else you feel will help make the transition smoother and will be happy to answer any questions you have.

Yours sincerely,

Generally you have to work your notice period, in which time you can hand over your duties and responsibilities to someone else. However, sometimes there will be reasons When you want to make the notice period shorter. If you want to resign early, You have to include a waiver of your notice period in your resignation letter. For example, if your contract demands a month's notice, but your new employer wants you to join straight away, you can include a paragraph stating:
I am aware that my contract demands a notice period of (x) months, but I am required to join my new employer as early as possible. If you could therefore waive my notice period, I would be happy to help hand over responsibilities to my replacement.

No need to write all the grandfather stories lah.

Just one sentence will do, and address it to your company.

"I hereby tender my resignation and advise the company that the notice period of X months as stated in my contract of employment (attached herewith) commences immediately from the date of this letter, subject to any un-utilised annual leave."

one way would b to talk to your management...sometimes they will agree to release you early...hope u have a good relationship with them to begin with...

another option would be to get your new company to pay for the notice...or u pay back from your own pocket...

if none of the above works...u have to finish your 3 months...

kevler's templete is a bit too long, this is the one i used, for two times.

TS, when u mention 3 months notice, its likely you will need to pay for 3 months salary if you put immediate notice. Thats why, read your offer letter carefully.

To be honest they never read, all they know is that the letter is for resign.

Its a sad thing to hand a letter in, cos it means loss of livelihood for you. So important to secure another assignment before you do anything rash...

Important is you need to state your resignation notice period effective from when & also your last day at the company. HR needs the date to calculate your salary & other benefits. Just a short & simple letter will do. Don't write your disgruntleness in the letter. Will make you look bad. Just move forward to new company.

The sad thing was, there was no official exit interview. They like, dun care also. But that is the style in the comp, u leave, they fail to persuade u to stay, they also heck care. There you go, that's what you get for staying with them for 6 years.
--- sorry rant a bit ---
