As per topic. I never write a resignation letter. Can anyone guide me please?

By the way, is it possible to fasttrack the resignation becoz I just realized my company required 3 months notice prior to resignation. I want to make it faster, is it possible? How?

Thread Resurrection!

I want to give 1 month, but then I have quite a bit of unused leave so I want it to "offset" so I will leave in like 3 weeks instead ...

i.e. today is 2 May, if I put letter now by right I should only leave on 2 June right? But with some leave offsetting it should be few days earlier ... so what date should I put on my letter? 2nd June? I have no idea exactly how many days I have left due to pro-rating/etc ...

According to my pass experience:

job 1: I tender resignation, and in the one month notice, the last week I redeem all my leaves by putting a leave application form, therefore left earlier.

job 2: I tender resignation, the HR calculated all my leaves and after deduction, they inform me my last working day.

In short, its best to estimate your last day without adding in your leaves, its good to take a few days off, unless your new employer want you to start immediately.

(conclusion: you still put 2nd of June)

hi there....i'm currently working in a MNC company...i have some doubts about the resignation letter.

i) who am I supposed to address in the letter since I'll be passing the letter to HR. ( is it appropriate to just put this "To Whom It May Concern")

ii) is it not neccessary to inform my manager about it since I'll be passing the letter to HR.

iii) the policy mentioned they pay the lower of actual un-used annual leave balance. What does it means?

One question, is it possible to resign if my head of department is away?

I will tender my resignation to my HR manager but still, does it require my HOD's permission?

I'm worried because he's away and I already accepted another offer..so I need to tender my resignation ASAP...

Thanks for any info

i. Yu may tender your resignation in the absence of your Head of Dept.

ii. Need not to worry. Carbon copy to him/her (your HOD) for professionalism touch.

Learn to let go and look forward. There's a Chinese saying that goes like this: "If you seek revenge, dig two graves."
Time to think about it, "shimmeringlilies"

LOL.. if you are in my seat you probably take a chair and throw it at him already. Especially he conned you when you know that he is often looking at your chest(even when you are wearing a turtle neck).

I'll leave that to your own. Even though you did ignite my imagination engines. Nevertheless, just be careful with that horny prick.

How did he con you?

He may be a bad guy, do you want to follow? If not, just leave with peace & shake his hand with smile. Do things properly will not damage you neither in the long run.

Just express your feelings...The best I have written was in the letter I mentioned the main reason I resign is the management and the attitude of this particular director, though I know they will never change, thats why I purposely written that...I thanked everyone except the one director who has problems...So, just express what you fell appropriate, this is your resignation letter, dont worry so much....

Nah it is okay. I think I will finish up my annual leaves as of next week and come in during my day off and hand in the resignation since my contract says I only need to give 24 hours notice. Woo hoo!!
