No need to write all the grandfather stories lah.

Just one sentence will do, and address it to your company.

"I hereby tender my resignation and advise the company that the notice period of X months as stated in my contract of employment (attached herewith) commences immediately from the date of this letter, subject to any un-utilised annual leave."

kevler's templete is a bit too long, this is the one i used, for two times.

TS, when u mention 3 months notice, its likely you will need to pay for 3 months salary if you put immediate notice. Thats why, read your offer letter carefully.

Thread Resurrection!

I want to give 1 month, but then I have quite a bit of unused leave so I want it to "offset" so I will leave in like 3 weeks instead ...

i.e. today is 2 May, if I put letter now by right I should only leave on 2 June right? But with some leave offsetting it should be few days earlier ... so what date should I put on my letter? 2nd June? I have no idea exactly how many days I have left due to pro-rating/etc ...

According to my pass experience:

job 1: I tender resignation, and in the one month notice, the last week I redeem all my leaves by putting a leave application form, therefore left earlier.

job 2: I tender resignation, the HR calculated all my leaves and after deduction, they inform me my last working day.

In short, its best to estimate your last day without adding in your leaves, its good to take a few days off, unless your new employer want you to start immediately.

(conclusion: you still put 2nd of June)
