Is the Sun Yatsen Memorial worth visiting compared to the one in Nanjing?

BTW, we just missed the earth quake & cold wind this weekend.. shocking.gif

In case anyone doesn't know....

The Taiwan Travel Office is at Wisma Goldhill on the 25th floor. If you bring a non-returnable copy of your air bookings, they will give you a pile of brochures and either an MRT card or hotspring ticket, not both. There is only NT$50 usuable value on the MRT card, which costs NT$100 empty. Over 50 public hotspring resorts are listed on the back of the pass but you can use it for only one, so maybe worth NT$250-300.

(If anyone happens to get these and not planning to use them, I will be happy to not waste!)

No point going there just for the NT50 MRT card-lah. The parking & the petrol going there already cost you more than NT$100!! haha

Just get the easy card at any MRT station. I hv use this card extensively during my 6D5N in Taiwan. including the train ticket from Keelung to Taipei. However U can't use the card for Train ti9cket to Hualien..not sure why hmm.gif

Overall, I have spent ~NT480/pax after getting the NT$100 deposit bck on my last day + 1 top-up in Keelung. Not bad consider extensive abuses on their MRT & buses daily. rclxms.gif

Just wondering, can i collect the stuff on behalf of my friends?

Is there any validity period? Cos i'll be going to Taiwan next year May. If i were to collect the stuff now, can i still use them on May?

Yup agree.

Different people have different preferences. Don't simply assume a place you don't like to go as "rubbish".

Yes, you could collect those promotion items on behalf of your friends, as long as you show them the "evidence". :-). I am going to collect mine as well as for my friends later this afternoon. Will be going to Taiwan this coming January.

Suddenly wondering, is hotspring pass any good for winter? Do the public ones in Taiwan have outdoor pools like Japan, but with warm indoor washing and dressing areas?

Hey guys,

Need some opinions here.

1. Should i look for a hotel in Ximending or Taipei Main Terminal?
2. Is there anything interesting/to shop at these 2 areas past 11pm? Some people said that there's nothing much in Ximending during midnights. We don't want to go back hotel at 11pm and watch TV. tongue.gif
3. Is it sufficient to spend 1.5 days in Hua Lian?

Thanks.

Taipei main station is convenient but lack of cheap restaurants & food compare to Ximengding area. Ximending is alive-lah..Nevertheless at the back of main station, there is one new gigantic shopping mall called Q-square...more like hi-end mall & hi-end food court so dun expect hawker pricing...Hawker pricing in taipei is ~NT$30-NT$50, whereas malls' food courts >NT$50 to NT$200 food.

Hua liean town is rather small & ppl going there just for the Chin Sui cliff & Taroko Gorge that can be covered within 5-6 hrs wth 2 -3hrs each by train from Taipei.. Day trip via early express train at 8am, arriving at 10am & 5-6hrs tour to Taroko/chin sui cliff & thereafter returning to train station ~4pm is sufficient.

for cheaper food goto Longshan temple area. that part of city reflecting the 60-70's of Taipei...roadside carts selling bao, noodles & etc & the wet market area...much better than Xi mending which is actually a refurbished old city into yuppies heaven. Dun forget the Ah Cung mee sua & the Yanji tonyuen in peanut soup...delicious
