For taroko is from hualien minsu..
For yehliu that is from taipei hotel..

The taroko one I think is not from Taipei..That is from Hualian raiway station...Can't be so cheap bcos Taipei to Hualian is 200KM away!

Something like traveling from Kl to Jasin or Bidow in Perak..

Two ways NTD 780 (Taipei---Hualien) by normal train (not high speed) Just came back 3 weeks ago.

Thanks Civic for the tips..Probably I will rent a car from Taipei..somwewan in MFM forum managed to rent a gps ready colt for T$2000. I think this is much cheaper than taking train & renting driver..(for 4)..The only problem is to avoid kena caugfht by the authorities there for driving without int license!

21" is just nice for cabin size, no need to check in luggage. But 25" would be idea if you go for shopping spree.

Hi we went to taiwan twice this year. Check out our itinerary here - http://kampungboycitygal.com/2009/07/execu...i-yilan-taiwan/
complete with maps and directions smile.gif

Day 1

Taoyuan International Airport 桃園國際機場 - Taipei Hostel - National Palace Museum 國立故宮博物院- Shihlin Night Market 士林夜市

Day 2

Fu Hang Soy Bean @ HuaShan Market 阜杭豆漿 - Taiwan Story Land 台灣故事館 - Ah Sui Sai Pork’s Trotter 阿水獅豬腳大王 - 688 Beef Noodles 牛爸爸牛肉麵 - 101, Shin Kong Mitsukoshi, New York New York - Shida Night Market 師大夜市

Day 3

Yang Ming Shan National Park 陽明山國家公園 - BeiTou (hot spring) 北投 - DanShui Old Street 淡水老街 - Lover’s Bridge & Fisherman Wharf 情人桥,淡水漁人碼頭 - Xi Men Ding 西門町

Day 4

Note: I have included some places of interest from my latest Taiwan Trip into the itinerary with a “+” sign. Pingxi, Jiufen, Jinguashi, Keelung are townships that lie adjacent to each other. It is best to spend 2D1N to cover places of interest like Pingxi + Jiufen + Jinguashi + Keelung Night Market (spend a night in Jiufen). Mode of transportation includes inter-township buses, taxis or chartered car. It is best to charter a car (check with the B&B owner) to avoid complications and to save time, and the view along the way from Jiufen to Jinguashi (Dong Bei Jiao 東北角海岸) is spectacular!

Day 5

LuoDong, Yilan County: Yilan Braised Duck - Lo Dong Night Market 羅東觀光夜市 - Rothenburg Bed & Breakfast 羅騰堡民宿

Day 6

Dong Shan River Park 冬山河親水公園 - Wu Fen Pu 五分埔商圈 + Raohe Street Night Market- Tripod King Ma La Steamboat 鼎王麻辣鍋

BONUS! From Taiwan August 2009

* Mos Burger
* Yong He Dou Jiang
* Our stay in GoForTravel Service Apartment
* Dong Chu, Taipei
* Raohe Street Night Market
* Keelung Miao Kou Night Market
* Jinguashi Museum of Gold

Hi I would change it here. We ran out of money and changed it in Taipei, it was expensive. or maybe it's a tourist area, I'm not sure smile.gif

actually taiwan not allow malaysia driving license to be use there. you need to have resident visa and re-exam at their country in order to drive there. So there is no guarantee you will able to rent a car with malaysia driving license.
Its better to get urself an international license in jpj at Rm 150. at least able to convince some of the shop to rent you car because some local ppl don know about this.
