After reading the post, I've decided to go on my own instead of taking ground arrangement. I have total 7 nights in taiwan end of dec, basicly i would like to stay 3 nights in taipei, 1 night in hualien, 1 night in ching jing farm, 1 night in alishan, 1 night in tao yuan.
But ah, i got no idea how to go each destination to next destination. I will do more research. but need some recommendation from u all also.
I've a problem here, i wanted to go alishan so much, but after reading some articles in travel blog / taiwan blog / etc, noted that the road going up to alishan is koyak! is there any altenative way to go to alishan? there's a rail right? still ok ka?

my itinerary:-
day 1: kul - tpe
overnight taoyuan

day 2: taoyuan visit to sunflower farm, later take bus to hualien & taroko
overnight hualien

day 3: taroko > ching jing farm
possible ka????

day 4: ching jing farm > alishan
possible ka???

day 5: alishan > tpe

day 6: tpe

day 7: tpe

day 8: tpe > kl

Is my itinerary ok? so blur now..need some advise..

I'll be going to Taiwan end of May 2010. rclxms.gif Am so excited planning my itinerary now~

Anyone knows how's the weather like during that time? I know it's towards the end of Spring and going into Summer. So the weather will be like Malaysia? Or hotter/cooler?

Possible but not recommended cuz the road from taroko to ching jing is very adventure and very risky.

day 4: ching jing farm > alishan
possible ka???
impossible for now because according to many, of 4x4 mountain car can reach alishan and now nothing to see there cuz the typhoon already destroy there badly[COLOR]

day 5: alishan > tpe
[COLOR=red]So instead of alishan, you should change to other places

day 6: tpe

day 7: tpe

day 8: tpe > kl

Is my itinerary ok? so blur now..need some advise..

CityInn is nice and having 2 branch hotels which nearby each other too, but unfortunately both are full too....suggest for those travel to taiwan Free n Easy have to book in 2 months advance....me myself finally book my hotel at Say Love (http://www.slovehotel.com.tw/) & HwaLi (http://www.f-hotel.com.tw/). Hope is as nice as CityInn.

read from some other forum, Shin Shih Hotel would be another good choice to stay too. (http://www.shin-shih.com.tw/en/aboutus.php)

for number 2.. this is what Ultra gave me

and for hotel that i stayed is this 1: http://www.star-villa.com.tw/index.htm
highly recommended for good service, good room condition, and friendly boss and ladyboss. I book the standard scenery view room, but they let me free upgrade to superior scenery view room that time as that room is empty. the stay include breakfast, hightea, and a steambot dinner. imagine you can eat the steambot in a cold weather.
cingjing also near to 9clan cultural village(themepark+cultural visit), sun moon lake, and lushan hotspring. so..if u have 3 night, you can go all of this. but than the only problem u nid settle is the transportation, it cost u some money.

Up to ytd i saw the rate is tw$100=RM11.15 (LG,Mid Valley)

i plan to bring along my Bank's Debit card in case not enuf money, can straight away withdraw the local currency over there. Charges from the bank only RM12 per transaction, vary from banks.....

This Sunday will go for 2nd time by Airasia. If one person $24,000 will be enough unless you want to shop a lot. For me if plan wisely still have balance to shop. I am planning to bring NT $ 14000 since only travel around Taipei and for 5 days only. NT$5,000 for transport + food and beverage, balance to shop.

For money changer the best is change US dollar here and change at Taoyuan International Airport for NT$. My previous experience is about RM 1= NT 8.9 change at Mid Valley LG. Luckily another half i change to US $ and eventually get 9.3 at the Airport. They only charge NT20 no matter how much US dollar you change. I understand hardly find money changer in Taipei city and have to change in bank and the charges are high.

From ur rate 100= 11.15 is about RM 1 = NT 9
Yahoo converter show RM 1 = NT9.59
By change to US then NT i think suppose can get NT 9.5

He he, RM 2000 then u get extra NT1000

There's a few that I always use.... i think can get better rate than that. you have to bargain a bit... then they will lower for you tongue.gif Call them to check out rate.... to save time... and not so paiseh (when bargaining and then not buy tongue.gif)

Mid Valley
Wawasan - 2287 5050
Best rate - 2287 2000

The Weld (this one will deliver to your office - call for Aisha and say you're friend of peiyee)
Craft Dynamics - 2032 5000

I've been checking the rates for a few days... noticed that Wawasan gives the best USD rate (but 0.01 diff only lar), while Craft Dynamics gives the best NT rate (0.03 diff more or less).

How does it work? have to find same bank or any atm in taiwan would work for debit cards? unsure.gif i don't have one, but can apply i guess if it's easier unsure.gif

For me, im brining NT24,000 for 2 persons....is that enough?? So your advice is better change some USD and change into NT in the airport or money changer?

Debit card is like Credit card function but it uses the fund in your saving account. As credit card company like visa or mastercard valid worldwide, so you can just withdraw your money through any bank overseas. exchange rate will be the same from the Visa & Master international exchange rate...which i think will normally lower than currency note exchange. just bear in mind, diff bank in malaysia will have diff charges by withdrawing money in overseas.

hehe my first time to taiwan also.... tongue.gif tongue.gif so not very sure also...

just that i thought if you changed NT and not used up when come back you'll loose on conversion, or just keep the money also no use. (unless you plan to go in near future).

but USD is popular, you can use it to convert into any currency around the world.

If you plan to travel around Taroko, i recommened you a cabbie called Mr. Chen (0937-167-779).. he is veli nice person and know everything bout Taroko, he is a tour guide too.. 80% of his customers are sporean because according to him, malaysian seldom do research and backpack like wat we did.. (he is famous in TripAdvisor forum).

Mr Chen also recommended us to overnight in a 民宿called石頭的家 which we never regret. 劉阿姨 is the owner, and she is super friendly and always join us for all activities. She is just like a mom there taking care of us, she even brought us some face marks becasue of the flu, so warm.... We booked a room for 4 person NT$2000 initially, but once arrived, she upgrade us to 6 person room, which should cost around NT$3000. and you cant miss their super yummy breakfast..! even her maid prepared the breakfast but it's super yummy..! we have 2 sets of breakfast each.. lolhttp://www.sutohome.com/

Mr Chen's standard charges is 1 day trip in Taroko NT$2200 and don't worry, he owned a Toyota Wish.. It's super confort.

dear kokuryo... just want to let you know that your post is very helpful. i have made booking at stone house via email... and also told her in email we need a guide and that a friend suggested Mr. Chen, and then within 1/2 hour he called us up for confirmation and then suggested itinerary : thumbup.gif thanks thanks~~
