The best is change to US dollar. When reach airport, change at the airport service charge is NT20 no matter how much u change. Don't change in town coz hard to find changer (actually banker) in Taipei City. Last time visit i change half locally (mid valley) at about 8.8 or 8.7( forget dee), But another half in US $$ and eventually get around 9.2 or 9.3. Same experience with Vietnam, this teach me always have US $$.

What i mean is RM 1 = NT 9.3

just a person, require to fly to from LCCT to Taipei on 11th November 2009, and return on 17th November 2009.

AirAsia and MAS is now expensive by the way, so is there any agent or any method to get cheaper flights?
*
Airasia now RM 857, use Eva Air from Taiwan RM 674 according online booking. but return no 17th, you may choose 16th or 18th.

UltraConductor_41, just wanna check with you..... what do you think about travelling to cingjing farm from Taoyuan?  hubby found on internet, there's a fellow who transport ppl from a hotel to cingjing but it's really expensive @ RM150 per pax... i guess it's via car/van.  what do you think?
*
Public transport is
take train from Taoyuan to High Speed Train (bullet train??) Station Taoyuan (1/2 hour)
take High Speed Train Station Taoyuan to Station TaiChung (1 hour)
Station TaiChung Exit at 1st Flr Number 5 exit Number 3 Platform
Fr the platform take Bus NanTou (2 1/2 hours)

So, if they charge RM 150 and save ur time i think is reasonable lah!
BTW, put it in schedule if you wanna travel middle and southern part of Taiwan else go and back eat up a lot of time!

Lolzz.... how many times u have been taiwan? right now i just worry the money is not enuf to spend only....do you think $24,000 taiwan dollar enuf for 8D7N? accommodation will pay by credit card.....$24k just for food and travelling....m i need to bring more? TQ

*
This Sunday will go for 2nd time by Airasia. If one person $24,000 will be enough unless you want to shop a lot. For me if plan wisely still have balance to shop. I am planning to bring NT $ 14000 since only travel around Taipei and for 5 days only. NT$5,000 for transport + food and beverage, balance to shop.

For money changer the best is change US dollar here and change at Taoyuan International Airport for NT$. My previous experience is about RM 1= NT 8.9 change at Mid Valley LG. Luckily another half i change to US $ and eventually get 9.3 at the Airport. They only charge NT20 no matter how much US dollar you change. I understand hardly find money changer in Taipei city and have to change in bank and the charges are high.

From ur rate 100= 11.15 is about RM 1 = NT 9
Yahoo converter show RM 1 = NT9.59
By change to US then NT i think suppose can get NT 9.5

He he, RM 2000 then u get extra NT1000

For me, im brining NT24,000 for 2 persons....is that enough?? So your advice is better change some USD and change into NT in the airport or money changer?

Debit card is like Credit card function but it uses the fund in your saving account. As credit card company like visa or mastercard valid worldwide, so you can just withdraw your money through any bank overseas. exchange rate will be the same from the Visa & Master international exchange rate...which i think will normally lower than currency note exchange. just bear in mind, diff bank in malaysia will have diff charges by withdrawing money in overseas.
*
Should be enough for 24,000. 8 days mean 8 * 2 * 1500 = 24000.
So each person if use less then 1500 still can shop. Their 7-11 and carrefour is nice to buy things. I like their instant bowl noodle very much, just around 40 to 60 per bowl.
Get a spare credit card in case want to buy something you like.
I only allocate 1000/person/day coz just wander around taipei, others will used by my wife shopping.

My experience is Citibank credit card give the best conversion rate, standard chartered one is lousy.
If use debit card better use oversea bank one, in case local one hard to go through, u know lah, Malaysia bank don't have branch in Taiwan.

20kg or 25kg really depends on how u pack. I went for a week, and just took 1 hand carry, didnt even check in any bags. Pack light is my advise if you can.

1hr for transit flight is definately a BIG NO. If u check in bags, u need to wait 15mins to collect yr luggage, plus MINIMUM 45mins to check in fr lcct-pg.
Moreover there is always risk of delay for air asia flights. I would say put at least 3hrs buffer time between flights to be safe..

This is obviously your first time flying, so pls do lots and lots of homework b4 u go.
Good luck! smile.gif

Agree. For relax traveling, just get a hand luggage or check in 15KG (estimate 20" to 22" luggage). Return will recommend 20KG if light shopping but 25KG for heavy shopping.

For connecting flight, if the next flight is not available (or too near the arrival time from Taiwan), then may consider stay one night at Tunes hotel (10mins walking fr LCCT) and catch the next morning flight back to Penang.
