Yes, it is easy to travel via their MRT. The hostel is within 150M walking distance from the 2nd MRT after Taipei main station. Well it's about 1km away from Taipei Main station. So very convenient. Also near to the airport bus stop too.

Added on March 1, 2011, 4:57 pmUp to you. I would rather book 1st rather than hunting for one upon arrival..You waste lotsa time there.

QUOTE(mcdd @ Mar 1 2011, 04:05 PM)
need your advice on whether to book accomodation through online in advance or just walk in to hotel when i reach taiwan is safe.

I brought back pineapple tarts, pork instant mee, lots of suncakes [tai yang ping] (i like this more than their pineapple tarts!), jellyfish/dried food from yehliu (but my dad say so-so only) and fried beef jerky from jiufen (my dad loves this the most!)

and yea, lots of memories and photos... i miss the cold weather of Taiwan and their night markets and also 7-eleven. never fail to visit them 10 days in a row. haha..

Actually, the pinneapple tart for me abit over-rated wan..nowadfays you can even get those tarts from Chinese drugs stores in klang Valley dy.

I think some M'sian butterly pinneaple tarts better. probably i dun get the famous one...I bought few boxes from Jiufen & Dangshui..

and at Yehliu, I bought lotsa seafood products from the souvenir stores beside the geopark exit.

Hi,
I'm new here and recently bought ticket to Taiwan from 20 Dec - 26 Dec at Taipei, just wanna know:
1. Is it easy to look for accomodation there?
2. Can we walk to the MRT station at Tao Yuan airport?
3. Izzit enough to explore all the places there for the 6 days? I'm just visit the place and take photos, that's it.

1) Yes it's easy, link to those hotesl/ online booking on pg1

2) There is no MRT from the airport to Taipei. Either taxi or bus.. Otherwise, a short taxi ride away (~2-3km from airport), there is a bullet train line to Taipei...Might as well take the bus..

3) Yes 6 D enough dy to cover atleast Taipei & one location out of Taipei/Suburban area..

Do you guys usually go to Taiwan via

1) Free & easy, or
2) Tour guide

It is a family trip by the way.

Free & Easy + DIY Backpacking for me. Yeah wth family + parent too

Advantages of DIY - Able to sample what local eat, Tryall local tranportation modes, you decide your own time and no hanky panky souvenir shop stop

Disadnatages of DIY over tour: No lunch/food provided. No guided tours & have to do research b4 going

Thanks Stimix for the quick analyst.

I am kinda lazy and less adventurous to do research by myself.

Just want to relax & enjoy, me guess for the first time, is it best to follow the tour, and for following trips (after familiarize and knowing where to go/what to expect), then can make it a free & easy trip. biggrin.gif

Aiyooo..mentioned multiple times dy and even pinned on pg1..

Just check the diff between Bank negara (Almost to market rate): http://www.bnm.gov.my/statistics/exchangerates.php
and compare to one of the best Money changer in KL: http://www.wawasanmoneychanger.com.my/exchangeRates.asp

There is a huge diff of ~ RM0.43...You will lost ~ RM0.35 for each RM you change to NT$..if to US 1st even if wth double commission, u will suffer huge diff
