Hi all,

I'm planning to go to Taiwan in Apr/May for honeymoon. Just wondering whether AA ticket cost around RM 1030 (incl. baggage, seat selection and convenience fee) is considered cheap. Anyone can advise? Have a limited budget thus need to save. Thanks.
That is so bloody expensive for a no-frills carrier like Air Asia X. EVA Air can give you around RM1200+. So does China Airlines.

QUOTE(powerplayguy @ Jan 11 2011, 11:57 AM)
u better take china airlines . cheaper. 2.5k for first class
I think you meant Business Class as CI doesn't offer First Class service to Malaysia. And RM2.5k for Business Class on China Airlines to TPE is a promotional price and extremely rare. The usual price is around RM 3.5k - RM4.5k.

Once you arrive in Taipei Taoyuan Airport, you can take the UBus shuttle bus to the Taiwan High Speed Rail Taoyuan station that costs NT$30/person. From there you will then transfer to the Taiwan High Speed Rail that takes only about 40 minutes to get to Taichung and the train ticket is NT$520/person. After that, i think you can charter a taxi to Alishan from Taichung which will be a lot cheaper. Anyway, Alishan is a tourist spot. You may want to check as there might be regular bus service to Alishan from Taichung which will be definitely much cheaper. Taxi in Taiwan generally cost an arm and leg. Taipei City has a very good public transportation system. Therefore when you're in Taipei, you can get around the city depends solely on its MRT and bus.

It is advisable that you go there in December as it is colder. Usually around 20°C. January - March usually are the coldest months. October is like typhoon season, if the past is any indication biggrin.gif

Anyway, it usually rains a lot in January. Just went there for 1 week last week and there wasn't a day that it did not rain. Everyone was holding an umbrella wherever they go. All the hotels usually provide an umbrella to all hotel guests (must be returned of course).

That is because the cheapest air fares are all sold out. Besides, there is a school holiday in March. Therefore, it is no surprise that most flights are already near capacity by now.

Taxi in Malaysia midnight rate is depending from your location.
In Taipei, proper airport limo rate is NTD1200, no matter it's night or day. If you nego with street taxi to pick you up, maybe you get like NTD 800 to NTD 1100.. definitely cheaper than NTD1200.

Cheap hotel, define your budget. To me anything below RM300 is cheap enough to consider. Plenty of choices already with RM300. Taiwan hotel is generally cheaper than most other places in the world, for the quality we get.

I just came back from taiwan last week..You can try "Fun Taipei Backpackers" from www.hostels.com.

Overall the room is clean and have nice view and the location is strategic..just take a lift downstairs and there is 7-Eleven right below the building and u walk across the street is Shihlin Night Market. 5 mins walk to Jiantan MRT.

The rent is about RM40-RM45 per person per night

My rating: Location---> 10/10
Price------>10/10
Room-----> 8/10

Both are good actually. Some however, will tell you China Airlines cabin crews are friendlier.
