Diesel engine is fine use in Malaysia, even more reliable than gasoline one, gasoline NA engine is better in small car like saga, myvi, axia... (1500cc and below) bigger car like suv, mpv better pick diesel turbocharged engine, Toyota and Nissan diesel engine is excellent too, but their bigger size vehicle with gasoline is terrible fuel consumption and very underpower. (Except 3500 cc and above, but don't dream good FC, power and torque is nice) That's  my driving experience.  thumbup.gif

yeah, for my personal use always use motocycle, no parking fee and easily pass through traffic jam, even I got Axia already masuk 2 years already, but just odo meter clock only at 5850km, seldom use, for weekend with family to pasar minggu..  whistling.gif

I never drive that 2.2d cx5 before . But the 420nm torque on spec seems great to pull this cow !

Back to topic , TS going to wait for new gen cx-5 , thats worth to wait 🙄

2.0 NA rubbish engine to push heavy car + full load passengers = bad fuel consumption, better pick 2.2 sky-activ D 2.2 engine, BTW diesel engine more durable than gasoline engine, more better FC as well and engine much last longer lasting up to 7 years, peace of mind and can use rest of money to buy house.  biggrin.gif
*
the new skyactiv D is lighter due to low compression for its diesel engine.. while normal diesel engine need to build it tough because need to withstand the high compression for its internal combustion
summore its expensive compare 2.0 petrol model..
are sure its fuel consumption is really bad for CX-5 2.0 petrol model? do you know how bad the CRV 2.0 model fuel consumption?

The SUV I'm getting is more on spacious and family car. That's why I'm looking at mid size SUV as mini SUV like HRV, Subaru SV, and even Toyota upcoming CHR will not cater much for my needs. My brother in law is driving Innova 2.0 right now with 5 people in the seat. But I do not see so much issue underpower, and his FC is quite fine. His driving style is quite fine as well.
Yeah, I'm thinking the same thing. It's impossible for Mazda to have 2017 empty without any new released. Or else they will be out of market easily. I'm hoping it can arrive around Q3 2017. The timing will be just right. Extra Gadgets are nice, but you know. Tech keeps involving, nobody use USB2.0 already. Even they implemented USB3.0. 10 years down the road, USB might be even obselete. So it was just like a...... Gimmick.

But the best things of the 2017 version I saw is the improvement of the quietness during driving. They claim it was 20km/h slower in getting the noise comparing with 2016. This is something I'm looking forward, as well as the Diesel version, but I worried Malaysia Diesel is a bit.... ahem.... might spoil the car. So we will see how it goes.

Anyway, thanks everyone for the feedback. I think I will wait for the CX-5 2017 version released then I will only sell my Proton Saga FL. But this weekend I will still go for test drive at Mazda, Nissan, & Toyota. Hoping I can concrete my current decision.

Under current economy, wiser for you to take own sweet time before getting committed. Rumours of election this year end, better to have more cash than owning the bank. Good thing of getting brand new CX5 with fighter jet air intake style grille, it's brand new and the feel is different. Malaysia is Mazda hub for ASEAN market, they sure will speed things up since CX5 is hot seller in Thailand. Unlike CX9 which has low demand in ASEAN market above affordability of most people

I just test drive Mazda CX-5 2.0 GLS and Nissan X trail 2.0. Here is my thought

Nissan X Trail -

Very pleasant drive. I do not feel like I'm driving SUV at all with such handling and feeling. It has almost the same feeling as driving my Almera. The 360 Degree camera is no joke. It is really good. It makes the parking even more pleasant. ( Especially for my wife ). My parents really like the spacious seat behind when they are sitting behind. Comes with Air con behind as well. There is barely noise from outside while driving in highway. The accelerator engine sound is almost same as Almera, but the gear changing is somehow.... very smooth.... like buttery smooth, unlike Almera.

Bad things is well.... The accessories is not much and not so "high tech" as Mazda CX-5. The handbrake is still using mechanical type instead of electronic type. The 2.0 version headlamp is not HUD light. For the airbag, I have no complaint even though it is just 2. Cause safety wise Nissan claimed they are concentrate on the Active which is the car body structure instead of passive ( like air bag ). But I will take his word as pinch of salt. Overall, good driving experience with old tech features.

Mazda CX-5

Pleasant drive as well, not as pleasant as X Trail, but at least I do not feel stress while driving it. This car has been proved to be much powerful than X Trail. I did try to release break on the slide to see its reaction. X Trail will remain its position, while CX-5.... will keep moving forward. The tech inside is very nice, electronic handbreak, ease of control in screen via the control button in the middle. The overall body is much much stable. Cornering is much much stable. The design wise. I think no other SUV can beat CX-5 Interior Design. Its just amazing.

Bad things is...... Engine noise. Well the noise is kinda significant during highway driving comparing with X Trail. Behind its not so spacious as X trail, I can see my parents legging left a little bit of space. Parking system is normal to me. Nothing fancy on that. Behind it. The item that will cover behind, there is no place for me to store it. It can only be put inside. X Trail has the space for place it beneth it.

Now headache is, Nissan is currently having the event. The discount rebate is provided a lot compare with Mazda. Wait and there is more, I was notified I can order the 2017 Mazda CX-5 !!! Can you believe that? Price will be the same, and different is just the remodeling interior and exterior. Transmission, Engine, all remained the same. And no additional feature like xtra usb port behind the seat, the power door behind. However, there will be no rebate for 2017 mazda cx-5.

So, I'm in dilemma right now. rclxub.gif rclxub.gif rclxub.gif

P/S: Do not hammer me if there is something that you disagree. The above comment is really based on my test drive. sweat.gif

Cause after I tested 2.0ltr version, I found out that it is sufficient for my ride. In the car there is 4 persons including me, but I do not feel any issue moving the car.

Should've just tested 2.5 also so you know the comparison, no harm anyway.
