Hi Guys, I'm having headache deciding my next SUV. Currently I have narrowed it down to these 3/ What I understand is

Nissan X trail, spacious compare the other 2.
Just release new version on 2016
clip gear mechanism. ( for overtaking purpose )
Reduce noise at high speed
7 seaters
Good Parking System

Mazda CX-5
Better FC compare with the other 2
Have better engine performace ( Speed )

Guys any advice on this as this Saturday I will be going down to these showroom for test drive

avoid rav4

X-trail if not mistaken only comes with 2 airbags

CX-5 is Car of The Year 2016...with 6 airbags, advise is to get 2.5L variant, or wait for 2017 model
at the end of the day...it's your own wallet so...
*
2.5l is too much for my current usage. I do not need 2.5l for driving city or highway. It seems like 2.0 will be just nice for me.

Is there any news when will the new CX-5 released? Is it facelift version? Cause I have finished paying loan for my old saga fl. I need to sell it off before the selling price drop as the new saga model has released.

trust me...2.0L is sluggish compared to 2.5L, highway is better to drive 2.5L or 2.2L diesel

latest news is by Q4 this year will launch new CX-5...not only facelift but also new engines

Hm... I maybe can consider waiting this new model released. But I heard that the price will be hiked by another 10k to 20k. Not sure whether it is true or not

it is not easy to get cheap spare parts for Subaru right? Cause Subaru is kinda rare in the market.

straight to the point here, dont expect to get cheap parts from mazda or nissan either. mazda being the most exp of the lot.
*
Actually Nissan is still fine for getting spare parts in Malaysia. Cause I myself have Almera as well. XD. Mazda wise, I'm not sure. Subaru is really hard to get in JB.

QUOTE(Actchan @ Mar 8 2017, 01:36 PM)
I saw toyota rav4 in the option .
Not much grey importer take the latest gen rav4 into malaysia due to the price similiar than harrier .

Ts want to buy used or new car ?
*
I want to get new car. I myself do not really trust second hand car. Are they no longer release new RAV version?

QUOTE(lyc1982 @ Mar 8 2017, 01:37 PM)
correct me if i am wrong...subaru technical support is kinda lacking compared to mazda in msia ?
*
I think so, at least there are few service centre in Johor compare with Subaru.

Well I do not mind using my Proton Saga for another year just to wait new Mazda CX-5. I heard that it will only be released next year. Just that my Proton is almost reaching the time where I need to change my timing belt. :S

Well , the all new cx-5 looks promising too. Its worth to wait 🙄
*
Yeah. I just watched the review for 2017 cx-5.. Man I can say is..... usb port everywhere. tongue.gif tongue.gif . There is also air con and backrow.

QUOTE(munk3y @ Mar 8 2017, 03:42 PM)
i heard the new cx-5 will be launch sometime around end of the year, and the pricing will be increased between 10k - 15k from current models, thats y there r  alot of promotions going on for mazda.
*
Yeah, the price hike up another 20k compare previous model. Question is, will that 20k worth it for the remodeling? Understand the engine will be different, but we do not know how's the performance.

Exterior wise, I personally prefer the existing cx-5. Interior I prefer 2017 version.

A lot of people are saying 2.5 is better for SUV. But I really not sure... cause the price difference is like another 20k. It may hike up to 160k. So ya... I will test drive 2.0 and 2.5 to feel the difference this weekend first. If the passanger is just 1 and 1 driver. I do not think there will be lots of differences between.

I try not to overspend on vehicle as need to prepare to buy house. laugh.gif laugh.gif

CX-5 obviously is the one..
th FL version do have better NVH compare before, 2.0 is good enough.. but Skyactiv-D is the best but too expensive
sound system in all three, CX5 is the best.. did try both Xtrail n CX-5 before, that center console to control the audio unit is a lot better..

as for ride refinement, Xtrail n CX-5 is similar feel.. maybe because both SUV, a bit on hard side.. so rear passenger comfortable not that good compare CRV

fuel consumption, CX5 not spectacular but good enough if u drive normally even for 2.0 petrol, diesel is the best of course..
*
Ok. I will think through it first on whether waiting for 2017 CX-5 or just get the existing 2016 CX-5 and sell off my Saga FL.

Well I suppose under powered/sluggish is depending on people's habit. If you're used to slow cars and driving that slow then yeah the 2.0 might be good enough already. There surely is a very noticeable difference between the 2.0 and 2.5ltr versions. Same case with comparing 2.0 vs 2.5 ltr d-segment sedans. Note also the average FC might be worse in the 2.0 as it's an under powered engine forced to push such a heavy car. IMHO if you just want to settle with 2.0 NA engines, then better just buy smaller cheaper SUV like Subaru XV or something.
*
The SUV I'm getting is more on spacious and family car. That's why I'm looking at mid size SUV as mini SUV like HRV, Subaru SV, and even Toyota upcoming CHR will not cater much for my needs. My brother in law is driving Innova 2.0 right now with 5 people in the seat. But I do not see so much issue underpower, and his FC is quite fine. His driving style is quite fine as well.

QUOTE(jayraptor @ Mar 8 2017, 10:02 PM)
If you like more stylish futuristic design and extra gadgets, wait for new CX5. If you prefer conventional solid design that is nice, go for current CX5. C-segment SUV, 2.0L is adequate to pull around as long as it has descent strong torque engine coupled with strong 6AT gearbox.

New CX5, if they could get the CKD early it should be rm145_15xk range for 2.0L. Mazda look at Malaysia as its job to cater for ASEAN market, they might bring in at faster pace.
*
Yeah, I'm thinking the same thing. It's impossible for Mazda to have 2017 empty without any new released. Or else they will be out of market easily. I'm hoping it can arrive around Q3 2017. The timing will be just right. Extra Gadgets are nice, but you know. Tech keeps involving, nobody use USB2.0 already. Even they implemented USB3.0. 10 years down the road, USB might be even obselete. So it was just like a...... Gimmick.

But the best things of the 2017 version I saw is the improvement of the quietness during driving. They claim it was 20km/h slower in getting the noise comparing with 2016. This is something I'm looking forward, as well as the Diesel version, but I worried Malaysia Diesel is a bit.... ahem.... might spoil the car. So we will see how it goes.

Anyway, thanks everyone for the feedback. I think I will wait for the CX-5 2017 version released then I will only sell my Proton Saga FL. But this weekend I will still go for test drive at Mazda, Nissan, & Toyota. Hoping I can concrete my current decision.

I never drive that 2.2d cx5 before . But the 420nm torque on spec seems great to pull this cow !

Back to topic , TS going to wait for new gen cx-5 , thats worth to wait 🙄

Now its just whether the price is fine for me to get it or not. And we do not know when it will release.

I just test drive Mazda CX-5 2.0 GLS and Nissan X trail 2.0. Here is my thought

Nissan X Trail -

Very pleasant drive. I do not feel like I'm driving SUV at all with such handling and feeling. It has almost the same feeling as driving my Almera. The 360 Degree camera is no joke. It is really good. It makes the parking even more pleasant. ( Especially for my wife ). My parents really like the spacious seat behind when they are sitting behind. Comes with Air con behind as well. There is barely noise from outside while driving in highway. The accelerator engine sound is almost same as Almera, but the gear changing is somehow.... very smooth.... like buttery smooth, unlike Almera.

Bad things is well.... The accessories is not much and not so "high tech" as Mazda CX-5. The handbrake is still using mechanical type instead of electronic type. The 2.0 version headlamp is not HUD light. For the airbag, I have no complaint even though it is just 2. Cause safety wise Nissan claimed they are concentrate on the Active which is the car body structure instead of passive ( like air bag ). But I will take his word as pinch of salt. Overall, good driving experience with old tech features.

Mazda CX-5

Pleasant drive as well, not as pleasant as X Trail, but at least I do not feel stress while driving it. This car has been proved to be much powerful than X Trail. I did try to release break on the slide to see its reaction. X Trail will remain its position, while CX-5.... will keep moving forward. The tech inside is very nice, electronic handbreak, ease of control in screen via the control button in the middle. The overall body is much much stable. Cornering is much much stable. The design wise. I think no other SUV can beat CX-5 Interior Design. Its just amazing.

Bad things is...... Engine noise. Well the noise is kinda significant during highway driving comparing with X Trail. Behind its not so spacious as X trail, I can see my parents legging left a little bit of space. Parking system is normal to me. Nothing fancy on that. Behind it. The item that will cover behind, there is no place for me to store it. It can only be put inside. X Trail has the space for place it beneth it.

Now headache is, Nissan is currently having the event. The discount rebate is provided a lot compare with Mazda. Wait and there is more, I was notified I can order the 2017 Mazda CX-5 !!! Can you believe that? Price will be the same, and different is just the remodeling interior and exterior. Transmission, Engine, all remained the same. And no additional feature like xtra usb port behind the seat, the power door behind. However, there will be no rebate for 2017 mazda cx-5.

So, I'm in dilemma right now. rclxub.gif rclxub.gif rclxub.gif

P/S: Do not hammer me if there is something that you disagree. The above comment is really based on my test drive. sweat.gif

Cause after I tested 2.0ltr version, I found out that it is sufficient for my ride. In the car there is 4 persons including me, but I do not feel any issue moving the car.

So in conclusion which one will u go for?
*
I end up might be getting HRV instead haha. Even though I did mention Honda is out of my scope due to family reason, but seriously, getting a 1.8cc car only cost around RM102k is just a pure bargain!!

No matter how good is the car, or how good is the performance, it still lead to the last thing..... MONEY. Not because of no money getting CX-5 or Xtrail. Maybe its because I'm spending most of my time working and staying in Singapore, only weekend go back to JB. Most of the time the car will be driven by my parents. And they rarely drive to highway, mostly are just city run. So getting RM130k car is not really worth it for me. It is best save it for getting house in Singapore. laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

Like I mentioned before, I change car is because of getting rid of my Proton Saga FL before it has problem. So I guess any car upgrade other than Proton is really work for me.

This weekend will be going down to Honda Showroom. Most likely I will confirm the purchase this weekend. Heck, its still a SUV, but compact version with CVT gearbox.

QUOTE(alexyap25 @ Mar 19 2017, 07:58 PM)
Bro, did u ask TanChong what does the 7 years warranty covers?
Does it cover free labour, material and parts during this 7 years?
*
Not really asking into too deep regarding the content of the 7 years warranty covers. But do not expect anything spoil can be changed easily, definitely there is something that it will not be covered due to wear and tear, for example leathers. Its more on the engine, or maybe performance on the vehicle itself.

So far only nissan and mazda. Honda will be this weekend.

Actually hr-v is wise choice too , with no direct rival on its 1.8 b-segment suv , another hot selling model by honda .

Cx-3 cant get good sales in malaysia with its 2.0 + stylish combo . Because ? The 130k price tag ...

Ts , why not consider subaru xv ?  Its bargain too 🙄
*
Subaru resale value is really really bad.... though the price does look attractive with good rebate

QUOTE(Zot @ Mar 22 2017, 07:52 AM)
Work in Singapore? I thought in Singapore Subaru is quite popular. Now that Subaru is assembled by Tan Chong, the parts are no more scarce. Unless you are looking for 7 seater, the Forester 2.0 premium is more high tech than even 2.5 CX5 I believe and also has 7 airbags  smile.gif
*
Only in singapore. Cant really buy a car in sg now cause the coe paper will cost your sgd80k. Lol. Like i mentiond above. Resale value for subaru is really bad

QUOTE(jayraptor @ Mar 22 2017, 07:23 PM)
CX3 is so expensive that top up a bit can get C segment SUV. Surprisingly, the cx3 could sell at healthy volume & doesn't cannibalise cx5 sales. If cx3 priced at rm110k, it might beat HRV
*
But cx3 the cargo space is really really bad. Good for driving with couple. But not good for family.

Hi, I already ordered HR-V V model this morning. I think this will be a good bargain of having SUV car with around 120k price point. Now I need to prepare to get video car camera, blind spot mirror and other accessories for my new car arrived. According to the dealer, the car will only be arrive within 2 months. That's quite long I would say. But for me should be fine as I can still drive Nissan Almera during that period of time. smile.gif

For future maintain , Isuzu should be a problem, if you ask your dad, he definitely know the previous model which is Isuzu Trooper , until today the car still running ...
And do you offense saw any Isuzu vehicle brake down at road side ?

Definitely I do agree, resale value can't compare to others brand like Toyota , Honda or Nissan ... But ask you a question,, can you tell me any car brand won't depreciate car value ?

Tell me, can any SUV perform such reliability rough in critical condition in such heavy rain happens now in klang valley ?
Guys , do you know ,, every car after one year it's happened to be depreciated at 30% ...
So as u guys always thought , brand like Toyota , Honda or others brand will sell more higher resell value then others brand ...

This is reasons because the car price model is higher spec .. Is simple calculation ,,,

Higher car price $$  -  30%  vs  Lowest car price  - 30%

Which one do u guys think more higher resell value ?
*
This is just not only toyota or honda dealer said this, even Mazda and Nissan dealers agree that people rather get better resale price on Toyota and Honda rather than Suzuki, Isuzu or sometime even Mazda. Yes the Depreciation started -30% one the first day I hold the key. But the key things is, the resale price difference. You should check with those reseller people on this, sometimes they do not even want to take Isuzu Suzuki car etc cause they worried they cannot sell it off. Reseller still needs to earn money you know. laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

According to the information i got it from different brand dealer, currently Honda, Toyota and even Perodua has better resale value. Proton, Mazda and Nissan have very bad resell value unless sell it to the same brand dealer.
