I bought a cat5e cable in Sri Computers, Plaza Lowyat. Apparently the cable only connect at 100mbps max. So i suspect the cable defect. When i go back they said "oh cat5e only support 100mbps"

?????????
Bought same cat5e before and getting full gigabit speed. Uncle there insist the 5e only up to 100mbps. I rest my case. Give up. Top up a bit bought cat6 straight away chow.

Can you take a look at how they wire the RJ45s?

Some shops/sellers wires cat5e like this. When it's wired this way, chances are that it won't work at 1Gbps. Yeah, they do it on purpose.

user posted image
If you take the same cable and re-crimp the heads like this, I'd bet it will work at or close to 1Gbps.

All i can say the cable is bad quality. The head all good. Im guessing its not 5e but they labeled it as 5e.

We all know 5e supports up to 1gbps and cat6 up to 10gbps but not the uncle there. Seems like the uncle know how to sell only lol

Sue them to consumer tribunal for false claim. You have to uphold your right as a consumer.

Read the label on the cable. It is the most accurate. Certain shops put cat5 cables as cat5e even it is labeled cat5 on the cable.

They labeled as 5e but real life testing only up to 100mbps. Its a new batch of 5e as i bought a few before and the quality totally different from the last one. Im guessing its a bad batch. No QC by them.

You also down with internet connection and no phone tone? I call up TM to compliant and they created a new report for me and they told me if they come and diagnose and found out that if it is not their line problem they will charge a service charge of RM 50. If it is beause of router or modem problem which is not cover under warrenty i got two choices, one is they supply a new unit to me but renew the contract to twenth four monhs or i pay for the device price.i told him my unifi is new installed not even four months but he still repeating the same term and condition for me. They are trying all sort of methods to earn our money but do not putting efforts to improve thier services and ensure the up time of unifi. How our country can improve with such mentality.

I believe their level 1 support is outsourced now and they just follow a standard SOP.

Their Web Chat quality is great.

Checked my March statement on OCC UniFi, no overcharging still retaining RM 189.75 after GST.

It's now RM 219-RM 70 (discount) = RM 149 for Internet and RM 30 for Ruby package. Total is still RM 179.
