The initial RM3.2k is actually fine. Think I might just go for a 1060 graphics card.

Will Intel5 7600 be better than AMD Ryzen5 1600 for gaming? Thanks a lot for explaining!

4C/4T vs 6C/12T

For Ryzen 5, it's extra core & thread may offer a significant performance improvement over i5 on certain usage and program.

Fyi, there are rumour about Intel plan to release their coffee lake i5 model with 4C/8T or 6C/6T in 2017 Q4.

A little high in price in second hand value. Maybe RM1100-1200 is more reasonable.

Cheapest without CPU bottleneck (i5 min) rig based on GTX1060 6GB will cost you slightly over 3k.

Hi terence_nwb, my old gpu went kaput and need a replacement. Will buy from idealtech and currently looking at gtx-1050 but not sure which model to buy. Budget <RM850

My current rig:
I5 2400
Gigabyte z68a-d3-b3
PSU Cooler Master brand with 550w

Can this system support the 1050 gpu or is there any better option? Will not consider to upgrade whole rig for now.

Check with Zotac on warranty terms. Some manufacturer are extremely strict.

Hi guys,

I am thinking of upgrading my 2010 PC.
currently im using Athlon X2 635 and AEH5750 GPU. its OLD.
this OLD fellows allow me to have 60 fps dota 2 at 1080 mid setting.

I am thinking to upgrade to G4560, H110M and Zotac 1050 Mini.
the noob question is here,

How do I update bios of H110M to run G4560?
Will ETECH do the free update for me?
I will probably buy from ETECH based on price preferences.

Hope someone will answer me.
Its been 7 years since my last involvement in rig setup.
a lot of information in single thread. haha

That shouldn't be a problem as it won't leave leftovers.

You need to know your brand and exact motherboard model for BIOS update. Visit the manufacturer's website for it.\

Going 1440p with 144hz and 27" IPS panel already asking for not best bang for the buck. AMD not recommended for GTX 1070 or higher. It bottlenecks. RAM speed doesn't improve performance as much as CPU and GPU. So yeah, asking too much for this budget.

Core i7-7700K - 1579
Noctua NH-D14 - 375
Gigabyte Z270X Gaming K5 - 899
Corsair 8GB DDR4-2133 X1 - 260
MSI GTX 1080 8GB DDR5X Armor - 2650
Samsung 960 Evo 250GB - 721
WD Blue or Seagate 1TB - 212
Super Flower Leadex Gold 750W - 549
Corsair Spec case - 299
Acer XB271HU 27" monitor - 3499 (from Viewnet)

RM11043 total (C-Zone prices)

Go for GTX1050Ti instead (your PSU can support it, the card itself is very power efficient), Gigabyte has few GTX1050Ti models priced under RM 800 according to Idealtech's price list.

QUOTE(boon213 @ May 5 2017, 11:04 AM)
Example rig?
*
Intel Core i5 7400/7500 - around RM 800/900
Basic H110 mobo - around RM 250
8GB DDR4 Value RAM - around RM 250
Zotac/Palit GTX1060 6GB (no overpriced Asus/EVGA etc.) - around RM 1300
1TB HDD (no SSD to save cost) - around RM 220
An entry level 500W PSU like FSP Hexa or Corsair VS series - around RM 200
Casing - around RM 200

Total up will be around 3.2k.

Yes, RX 470 will cost more. RX 570 replaces RX 470. Yes, there will be increase of performance.

Adding SSD will increase the cost as well.
