You don't put budget. People will recommend AMD Threadripper or Core i9. As of now, Ryzen 5 1600 and Asus Prime B350M-A. Hard to recommend with no budget limit.

Planed to get a new gaming rig. Currently got on gtx750tl which is still new (1y++), if i want to make a second rig for it... what is the right CPU... currently running i3-2130 but clearly very slow for some cpu intensive games. ..

i9 or ryzen 5 may not make sense as gtx750 will be bottlenet....for gaming....

My idea is, try to get a balance configuration, maximise the value of gtx750tl while minimal investment on mobo & cpu....

If need to set a budget, it will be lesss than RM1k for Mobo & CPU may need to add mem may not be reuseable...

Can someone recommend me a desktop rig that will be use for teaching in my classroom?

The parts that will be reuse are :

1. Samsung 850 EVO 250GB
2. Dell U2312HM
3. Leadtek GTX970

and at the same time, please do recommend me a good projector that can be project to the wall in a small room.

Budget would be quite flexible but want to maximise the cost to quality ratio. Best bang for bucks spend.

As long as smooth interface, reliable and can get the job done.

Thanks..

I haven't built a new PC in about 15 years and a random impulse suddenly compelled me to look at PC parts. Based on a quick scan of articles it doesn't seem like now is a good time to jump back in if I was looking to assemble a top of the line rig. Would you folks recommend I wait?

Intel's 8th gen Coffee Lake is coming out soon so I should probably at least wait for those. Are DDR4 prices going to come down? And are high-end GPU prices like the 1080s also affected by cryptocurrency mining?

Either go AMD or wait. I don't trust Intel right now because they use shitty thermal compound.

DDR4 prices continues to go up due to production issue. Only Nvidia GTX 1070 is affected. 1080 prices are still fine.

Thanks for the response Tristan, much appreciated! I'll wait for now until we see if Intel gets it together.
