Increasing number of games. Infact, Ryzen 7 1700 is silky smooth. My old i7-4790K has some stutters. i7-7700K may not get you 100+ FPS too. On top of that, 1440p.

https://www.techspot.com/products/processor...ket-am4.162463/

Oh, enjoy cooking that i7-7700K when it heats up. By the way, I favor Intel but not this generation.

i don't favor either, would personally go 1600 for best value sweet spot. it is up to TS to decide what he does with his PC. but fair enough i guess, for 1080p 144Hz 7700k better, but 1440p not much difference.

btw would you choose 1080ti with I7-7700k vs 1080ti with 1700? for more than 60FPS 1440P.

Still Ryzen 7 1700. More games eventually will go beyond 4 cores. Don't forget PS4 and Xbox One is using AMD 8 core. It's "Core 2 Duo vs Core 2 Quad" debate all over again.

Thanks for all the suggestions!

I have decided to get the SSD first, because I got a code for Windows 10 early. Is it alright if I use my laptop to first install Windows 10 on the SSD, then later move it to the new system once I get all the parts?

Nope, Windows 10 will be locked into that laptop. If you have Windows 7 key, it can be used for Windows 10 I think.

[[Budget]: As low as possible

[Purpose]: Word processing. I'm trying to put up a budget rig which I can give to some secondary school students in the interior part of Sabah. They will need it for their project and assignment.

[Hardwares that will be re-use]: None

[Monitor resolution]: Low

[Games & softwares that use frequently]: Microsoft Office, Windows

[Personal preferences]: Will need a rig with quality parts. The area which this is going to be used may not have reliable power supply (most likely running on power generator).

[Location]: Sabah

Thanks in advance! biggrin.gif

Need a computer for browsing and lightroom, plus light video edit.

Don't need monitor, keyboard, SSD, Mouse and good Graphic card (not a gamer anymore).

Prefer half or full size motherboard.
Thanks

Thanks for the suggestion. Would this support a 1440 resolution monitor? What else would I need to purchase to complete this build? Or is this literally everything inside the computer?

Sure, just get a 1440p monitor (if you haven't already) and you are good to go, it's a complete build, you may get more casing fans if you want to improve the airflow of the rig.

My nephew is interested in building his own budget gaming system. I haven't mucked around with assembling a system in ages, so I hope to get some advice.

Besides budget parts, can you recommend stuff (casing, mobo, and etc.) that are easy to assemble? As in, a 12-year old could do it, with adult supervision.

He's currently gaming on an old Apple iMac, so he tends to play Minecraft, TF2, Counterstrike, etc. Any video card that can run DOOM and Overwatch comfortably should be fine.

Thanks in advance biggrin.gif

Thanks for the help TristanX. On a side note, would it be better if I were to grab a low-end laptop instead?

Low end laptop is significantly slower than Pentium G4560. Also, if you wanna go with 550W power supply, you also need 1000VA AVR if you wanna buy one.
