Didn't follow fuel price much for about a year, quite shock when saw how expensive RON97 now from news. Are we towards ending of petroleum generation?

Still a long way to go. Malaysia fuel price still one of the cheapest in the world.

Calculation and table of estimated prices can be found at this link: https://goo.gl/cpYiBN. No guarantees any of the estimates will be correct as the government has been heavily subsidizing the fuel price - even RON97! The good news is that RON95/Diesel has hit the ceiling and will continue on to be RM2.05 & RM2.15 respectively for the foreseeable future.

If calculating 2/11 to 8/11 cycle (Tuesday to Monday - weekends are using Friday prices), the actual retail price for RON95 & RON97 should be RM2.99 and RM3.29 respectively (±1 sen).

Thus, I estimate that RON97 would go up by 10 sen from last week to RM3.16 (±1 sen).

Note: RON95 will be capped at RM2.05/l & Diesel at RM2.15/l source

Just want to ask, does Bardahl's octane booster contain lead?

No, all octane boosters now use MMT, no more lead cuz lead is already illegal.

Does MMT cause issues with the cat con and o2 sensors?

No, it won't.

Edit: sorry, it seems got inconclusive studies wherrby some study may show impact while others not. What most mention consistently though that it may accelerate spark plug wear.

Runs perfectly fine on 95 but recommends 98, and you wouldn't notice it much on straight-line highway driving but I can feel a significant difference when pushing it on touge runs.

I'm still hesitant on using octane boosters due to contradicting info on MMTs' effect. Spark plugs are cheap to change but the oxygen sensors.... sweat.gif

If you want to get ron 97, you can mix 95 and 100 with ratio of 3:2 and you'll get avg. ron 97 with cheaper price at rm2.75/l.

Thus, I estimate that RON97 would remain the same as last week at RM3.08 (±1 sen).

This is actually good news - looks like they used the old formula of 6-8% difference between RON95 & RON97 formula of the old days. No longer the arbitrary 30 sen difference in price between RON95 & RON97.
