Not their own money to blow off.
So much of taxpayers money to subsidise fossil fuels, whilst gov keep talking about ESG, green technology and sustainable energy etc. icon_rolleyes.gif

Let see how much more fossil fuel subsidies in bajet 2022 next Friday, tnb coal power generation, nat gas etc.

Calculation and table of estimated prices can be found at this link: https://goo.gl/cpYiBN. No guarantees any of the estimates will be correct as the government has been heavily subsidizing the fuel price - even RON97! The good news is that RON95/Diesel has hit the ceiling and will continue on to be RM2.05 & RM2.15 respectively for the foreseeable future.

If calculating 19/10 to 25/10 cycle (Tuesday to Monday - weekends are using Friday prices), the actual retail price for RON95 & RON97 should be RM3.03 and RM3.33 respectively (±1 sen).

Thus, I estimate that RON97 would go up by 10 sen from last week to RM2.97 (±1 sen).

Note: RON95 will be capped at RM2.05/l & Diesel at RM2.15/l source

I doubt they will increase ron97 this week. The PRN for Melaka is a hot topic now and Bajet 2022 presentation on Friday. As much as possible need to distract everyone from inflation issues.

What car do you drive actually, I can't recall. Most normal cars don't need 97 actually, just people shiok sendiri! Lol
I use Bardahl on my Evo and Swift Sport.

E46 325i. Owner's manual recommends 98 while minimum is 91.

Where do you source yours from? I see official Bardahl Shopee Store selling at RM21 per bottle (148ml) while 2 other listings with lots of sales/reviews are at RM10-12 each.

E46 just drinks pure 95 no issue, just like my Mark X. Barely any difference, I don't even put octane booster on my Mark X. If I were you I won't even bother with octane boosters for that car.

I got from shopee, just around rm10/btl. Tested on my Evo, it works good as my check engine light not flickering/remains off even during boost up to 1.4 bars. If I use pure 95, it may occasionally flicker on boost meaning the ECU may begin to retard timing just a bit.

I see. I do drive it hard daily, and go for late night runs or morning touge runs often as well. So I thought I'd feed it with its recommended fuel grade.

But based on your advice, I guess it's negligible to bother with octane on these cars?

Yes I'd think not really significant effect. My Mark X fuel range recommendation is 95-98 but also don't feel much different when drinking 97 no matter how hard I drive it. Same case with Swift Sport to be honest. I suggest you just try first with pure 95. It surely won't damage your engine, just a matter of whether you can feel the slight performance gain or not. Me personslly, I'd only consider filling up 97 on these cars if the price difference is less than 30c.

The good news is that RON95/Diesel has hit the ceiling and will continue on to be RM2.05 & RM2.15 respectively for the foreseeable future.

If calculating 26/10 to 1/11 cycle (Tuesday to Monday - weekends are using Friday prices), the actual retail price for RON95 & RON97 should be RM3.06 and RM3.36 respectively (±1 sen) - the subsidy amount of RON95 has finally reached more than RM1 per litre.

Thus, I estimate that RON97 would go up by 10 sen from last week to RM3.07 (±1 sen).

Note: RON95 will be capped at RM2.05/l & Diesel at RM2.15/l source

Indeed, a big thank you to the gov rclxms.gif
Nothing mention clearly on petrol subsidies in the Bajet 2022, probably under Strategy 3 - Initiative 1 from that 31B total.
