Current estimate according to last week data, below are the estimated fuel price for Thursday. Calculation link http://goo.gl/cpYiBN

If no sudden subsidy
RON95 ▲ 6 sen to RM2.26
Diesel ▲ 6 sen to RM2.24

If maintain current subsidy
RON95 ▼ 2 sen to RM2.18 (suspected 8 sen subsidy)
Diesel ▼ 3 sen to RM2.15 (suspected 9 sen subsidy)

Or peg at current prices
RON95 ◆ at RM2.20 (with a 6 sen subsidy)
Diesel ◆ at RM2.18 (with a 6 sen subsidy)

However, it is highly expected that there will be no change in fuel prices.

I rather they don't subsidize now, else after election we may see some sudden big increase or higher than market price to cover the subsidy given

Actually, all this petrol price prediction is just a "prediction". Not exactly "news". Only thing is some of the price mentioned here is prediction from calculation while some are information based on other sources. Those information from other sources, maybe call them "prediction" so that it won't translate to "fake news".

With the election announced to be on 9th May, the normal fuel pricing would come back presumably immediately after the election, 10th May or the week after on 17th May. Or it may go on indefinitely, only the government will know I guess? In any case, below is the final fuel price for tomorrow after taking into account yesterday's closing price:

If no sudden subsidy
RON95 ▲ 6 sen to RM2.26
Diesel ▲ 6 sen to RM2.24

If maintain current subsidy
RON95 ▼ 2 sen to RM2.18 (suspected 8 sen subsidy)
Diesel ▼ 3 sen to RM2.15 (suspected 9 sen subsidy)

Or peg at current prices
RON95 ◆ at RM2.20 (with a 6 sen subsidy)
Diesel ◆ at RM2.18 (with a 6 sen subsidy)

Who knows if they'll announce a price decrease this evening biggrin.gif https://goo.gl/cpYiBN

I think it's still a good exercise to do the calculations.
Helps us understand the world trending prices.

Good job to the guys who are doing it.
Please keep it up because I find it very helpful.
Thanks.

As usual, all latest updates are on post #1

Looks like there is a spike at the fuel prices this week (1 day data). I shall only update more data on Monday morning. RON95 is back at RM2.30 level according to yesterday.

What I personally estimate, judging from the data from AIP (for 12 April - 18 April) http://goo.gl/cpYiBN
If no subsidy
RON95 ▲ 10 sen to RM2.30
Diesel ▲ 7 sen to RM2.25

If maintain current subsidy
RON95 ▲ 4 sen to RM2.24 (suspected 6 sen subsidy this week)
Diesel ▲ 1 sen to RM2.19 (suspected 6 sen subsidy this week)

Or peg at current prices
RON95 ◆ at RM2.20 (with an estimated 10 sen subsidy)
Diesel ◆ at RM2.18 (with an estimated 7 sen subsidy)

Not only no change but price may drop during the last week before the general election too even though all the global market direction and calculations are pointing upward!

Hi everyone. You should all be happy that there is a subsidy mechanism in place as it looks like it's an increase in fuel price this week: https://goo.gl/cpYiBN

What I personally estimate, judging from the data on page 1 (for 12 April - 18 April)
If no sudden subsidy
RON95 ▲ 12 sen to RM2.32
Diesel ▲ 15 sen to RM2.33

If maintain current subsidy
RON95 ▲ 6 sen to RM2.26 (suspected 6 sen subsidy)
Diesel ▲ 9 sen to RM2.27 (suspected 6 sen subsidy)

Or peg at current prices - this is what I guess what it's gonna be though
RON95 ◆ at RM2.20 (with a 12 sen subsidy)
Diesel ◆ at RM2.18 (with a 15 sen subsidy)

Subsidy just means we pay for it in a different way, assuming we earn enough....

Thanks for continuing your analysis even with the 'mysteriously frozen' prices last few weeks bro. Much appreciated.

So far, the subsidy cost for RON95 is an estimated (10+8+6+12) 36 sen. But I think they'll eat these losses, and just go back to the normal fuel prices without subsidy.
