This is another clear case especially to those government-bashing forumers:

Damned if you do (increase the price)
Damned if you don't (increase the price)

Either way also kena criticized. dry.gif

It’s more like the timing of this subsidy coming in that’s quite suspicious. It’s not like the price of RON95 never hit RM2.30. In fact, as recently as 31 January that the RON95 price was RM2.31 or even in 15 November it was RM2.38 - why no subsidy then? If wanna give subsidy, should be consistent, not play politics with it.

Lazy thinking. The issue isn't so much increase or not increase, but the lack of adherence to what they said is being done. For political advantage.

Forecast is listed on page 1, post 1. It’s unchanged with no price for Friday as Singapore had a public holiday (Good Friday).

Yes, it’s indeed hard to forecast, so I listed it with 3 scenarios. Even then, all 3 might be wrong as the subsidy variable is thrown in.

As of 2nd April data, below is what I personally estimate:

If no sudden subsidy
RON95 ▲ 9 sen to RM2.29
Diesel ▲ 10 sen to RM2.28

If maintain current subsidy
RON95 ▼ 1 sen to RM2.19 (suspected 10 sen subsidy)
Diesel ▲ 1 sen at RM2.19 (suspected 9 sen subsidy)

Or peg at current prices
RON95 ◆ at RM2.20 (with 9 sen subsidy)
Diesel ◆ at RM2.18 (with 10 sen subsidy)

You can view the latest info on page 1. Calculation is here http://goo.gl/cpYiBN

Maybe because of the deal between Saudi Aramco and Petronas that was finalized end of March we get competitive oil prices?

Updated information for this week based on yesterday's MOPS price. https://goo.gl/cpYiBN

If no sudden subsidy
RON95 ▲ 8 sen to RM2.28
Diesel ▲ 9 sen to RM2.27

If maintain current subsidy
RON95 ▼ 2 sen to RM2.18 (suspected 10 sen subsidy)
Diesel ◆ at RM2.18 (suspected 9 sen subsidy)

Or peg at current prices
RON95 ◆ at RM2.20 (estimated 8 sen subsidy)
Diesel ◆ at RM2.18 (estimated 9 sen subsidy)

So let's just wait for the announcement later this evening smile.gif

-edit- in case any of you are wondering, yes, I'm continuing to track the fuel prices even with the fake news law. The data that I'm using are from proven sources, and not likely to be wrong. If it's wrong, the calculation is out in the open (via the link above), and anyone can view/correct me icon_rolleyes.gif

Predict based on instinct, suka2 hati, just give figure - confirm fake news.
Estimation/Forcast/Prediction based on data - if this is fake news, then no need analyst/consultant anymore. Every report based on data is fake news.
