Hi guys, just to share something I am doing just as a hobby - hope this helps you to estimate next month's fuel price - less of a surprise if it goes up and fuel up before the rush, or wait to fuel up until next month if it goes down smile.gif

Malaysian Estimated RON95 Fuel Price

I am using the government's formula to calculate the following month's fuel price. As far as I know, the calculation is quite accurate. There are some discrepancies ±RM0.05, but it should be close enough - some of the calculation has been confirmed by government sources.

Estimated RON95 fuel price for March 2017 - unchanged at RM2.30/Liter, but there is a small chance that the government could reduce it to RM2.25/Liter.

As of 27/2, the average estimated RON95 fuel price is RM2.2879/Liter.

Edit 28/2: well, it looks like the estimation is right on target for March 2017 - fuel price is unchanged for RON95. I will try to start tracking RON97 figures for April as well, but take it with a large dosage of salt as it is unproven, and there is no way for me to get historical values to test. Look towards this page for April estimated fuel figures!

Thx for the support guys!

Boleh tahan man your formula spreadsheet. Although price of petrol RON95 is unchanged for this month, I noticed that there were many motorists lining up at petrol stations yesterday at around 8.00pm. Not too sure at what time the news on the petrol price was announced yesterday.

If your estimation proves to be accurate for the next coming months, then it would be useful as we can all avoid jamming up the petrol stations during the final hours just before 12.00 am midnight going into the next month.

Increase by how much? RM0.05? RM0.10? Well, since it's going up might as well visit the petrol station later.

I would prefer to check the few last posts on this thread as that would be confirmed to be the latest posts. Nobody would know if the first post on this thread is not updated and not the latest.

Jasonhan, RON95 +RM0.06
Weezy RON95 +RM0.04, changed his mind later to +RM0.05

Naik again? Cis.

Anyway, naik or turun I've got to visit the petrol station later today as the fuel tank is almost empty already.

I only quote the post from both of you guys because the rest are either just toying (it's easy for anyone to post "going up this week"). Since you have the numbers I presume you must have some information from reliable, or unreliable sources.

So far both of you say UP, while the moderator Stimix says DOWN. Any changes from you guys, especially Jason who seem to almost always give accurate answers. Don't let an inaccurate or wrong prediction affect your reputation man.

When I asked the pump attendant yesterday, he said his boss didn't want to reveal whether the price will go up or down although he had known about it (since the boss doesn't want the customers to know). However, the pump attendant did mention the boss asked the fuel trucks to not come and unload the fuel yesterday and today. Not sure what does that suggest though.

If RON95 is up by 1 cent, it's marginal even if pumping full tank.

The fuel operators must be a happy lot for the past few weeks and this week if it's going up again.

Just received Whatsapp on fuel price this week. Source is from Mr Nobody.

RON95 and RON97 turun 1 sen.
Diesel turun 3 sen.

Although different from the above sources, at least the pattern is all pointing to going down, which is a good thing. Cannot be naik all the time right..

If increase 5 sen, in my case I need to paying extra RM3 per week.

Satu bulan pay RM15 more.

If next week naik 6 sen again, tak payah balik kampung dah.

The ever-reliable Jedi. Thanks for the heads-up.

4 cents, man that's some hike. Still left half tank today but will go and pump later this evening. The savings for half tank may not be enough for a packet of nasi lemak kosong but will be equivalent to a cup of teh tarik. Good enough for me.

Wow Jedi, if that is true, can upgrade from nasi lemak kosong (2 to 3 cent full tank) to nasi lemak tambah telur dan sotong + kari ayam drumstik (8 cents full tank).

10 cents reduction? At first I thought Nasi Lemak tambah lauk only with 8 cents reduction. Now almost upgrade to Nasi Arab Mandy already. Haha..

Final forecast - it's a whopping:
RON95 ▲ 10 sen to RM2.30
Diesel ▲ 9 sen to RM2.27

Fuel up soon boys and girls.

In any case, I'm retiring the CME calculation and using the AIP Daily method from tomorrow onwards.

Damn. What a coincidence that I"m going up north to Penang this weekend. Two full tanks of petrol would mean I rugi RM11 this week (110 litres of 2 tanks x 0.10). Equivalent to one plate of nasi lemak + sotong + drumstik ayam berempah
