Both selling around RM 500
Both claimed that Netflix is free for life…
Somershade need to renew account after few month. But they do provide

anyway , its stupid for them to rooted it . and never provide instruction how to unroot...they just simply produce a tvbox for the sake of producing it ..

no aftersales support etc for those mecool km3 and km9 pro

When it's done the "right way"..Exhibit A? Shield, Minix & HiMedia... What do ppl say? it's too expensive la, this la.. that la.. Want RM2xx box but does it all. Well, you get what you get... I'm sorry, but good devs cost money.

Neither... Please see page one. Also, Netflix free for life? You believe that? Hope you aren't one of those who later to write 1 star reviews about how the account died after awhile and Seller refused to entertain.. smile.gif

Yes, depends on their server, the box and your networking conditions.. Either way.. I wouldn't recommend them.. Kindly see page one and read the last few pages.. However, should you still insist on going with them.. Take note of the sections within this thread, pointing to news portal with articles about govt crackdown.. Wish you good luck. smile.gif

No such thing as netflix free life. It’s probably cracked account they’re providing which they’ll replace everytime previous account expires/original owner changed password

If you’re aiming for netflix/streaming use only. Better grab cheaper box like firetv stick 4k since it’s already support widevine level 1 drm for netflix and other streaming services.

Or the netflix is actually a fake netflix. Some faked ones are pretty good, except they are illegal.

According to this guy, Ugoos Am6 beats Beelink GT king in many areas.

However, this is a Widevine L3 device compared to L1 for GT king. Nevertheless, both cannot run netflix in 4k.

The differences mainly come from software, Ugoos value add in the software. Beelink software value add is weak.

Interesting war ongoing.. However, I'd still say the GT-King is the better device. Sure software-wise, for a tinkerer like me.. The Ugoos wins, courtesy them taking more time to implement added features. Some of which I really like and others, I couldn't really care for. But hey, that's what software updates and more importantly, custom ROMs are for (Which the GT-King is strong ATM).. Nevertheless, if Ugoos releases similar or surpassing HW than even the newer version of the GT-King with better software? It's an easy win for them. Currently here's some pros & cos I gleaned..

Pro GT-King
GT-King now has the S922-B version which is clocked just as fast as this box (2.2 GHz)
RAM (LPDDR4): 4GB vs 2GB
ROM: 64GB vs 16GB
Res: 4K@75hz vs 4K@60Hz
USB 3.0: 2 vs 1

Pro Ugoos AM6
Root Access... has silent feature.. Easy to toggle between full/masked/uninstall root. (This makes things super easy for noobs..)
Gamepad Keymapping feature...
Bluetooth 5.0 vs 4.1
Advanced stock launcher
Antutu : 130687 vs 128129 (at least)... So IMO, negligible.

Updated GT-King's Antutu Score.

So this really tiny tiny bundle will be dropped soon.. Still under production, working on squashing a few FW bugs first.. after the update and given the all clear... Will run it through it's paces. Running regular Android V9 though.. The GT1mini refreshed with newer internals. The GTmini-2, now equipped with the S905X3 SoC.

And this is it beside the GT-King.. I believe this is the smallest Android OS powered box I've ever seen. sweat.gif

Interesting. Have not been in this forum for many many stars & moons now.

Came here to get a quick update on where TV box tech progress is now. Mine is Himedia Q5, using it for the past 4 years. It has served me well. AM6 looks impressive.

Plan to get a new one though my Q5 is working fine. Why? First, my Q5 is now considered low tech with advances in TV box tech over the past few years. Second, with you know who wanting to control this TV box usage, better get one now before they impose laws which will make it harder to get what I want later.

Appreciate a quick feed\back from gurus here on the top 5 best tv boxes (dont mind paying a bit more to get what I want and that will serve me for the coming years).

Thanks.

P/S Yes, will need to get a new high tech tv to suit the more powerful TV box! Mine is Panasonic plasma, yes out dated tech now.

Nvidia Shield still kicking butt...Shield "2" still no show sad.gif

Apple TV 4k Dolby Vision picture quality is superb, almost reaching Oppo UDP quality. But obviously no Android...

In addition to what TS says.. Still need know what you need it for.. Cuz then only can suggest better. Else, Shield mah.. You can read back a couple pages to catch up.. Asterruk still works on most for now.. Years later?.... Tough call. Cuz beta program is on and they letting us play with it. Probably to contribute as much data back to them, particularly on which devices.. smile.gif

As for additional control, etc.. It's like phones or computers.. Can block the ehem services, but if stock hardware and software is clean? Can't charge against that.. AFAIK.

MXQ CUBE S10X NETFLIX 4K AMLOGIC S905X 2G RAM 16G ROM

I tried to find a English review, but could not find it.

Anyway this box has these essential features :-

1. Support Netflix 4k
2. DRM L1
3. Has a built in speaker.
4. Price around rm250.

The netflix 4k support may not last. If you wanted to buy it, be warned.

Stop, maybe ban Android Boxes ?

https://www.thestar.com.my/business/busines...-content-piracy

"While details were lacking, the conversation seems to confirm our earlier understanding that MCMC and the content providers (e.g. ASTRO) are in discussion with the 21 internet service providers in Malaysia to deny internet access to Android TV boxes," said Maybank.

The research house added that it hopes the MCMC will also investigate e-commerce websites that sell Android TV boxes and even ban Android TV boxes altogether.

Think again whoever making the recommendation, it is something stupid. Assuming MCMC really ban TV boxes, and people indeed comply, then it will result in people using handphones, tablets or PCs to access internet and connect it to TV.

Can MCMC also ban phones, tablets and PCs, and smart TVs ?

depends on which tvbox.
those popular and high spec should be no issue
most of the USB port on high spec box now supply power more than 500mA, eg like 1A or 2A,which HDD USB able to run on single port.

mouse and thumbdrive use less power, so no issue running on USB hub.

Thanks.

Even if they blocked access to streaming sites, won't VPN open up the hole?

Too early to worry... and no point worrying on something you have no control.

Let them ban and block first. I wanna see how they enforce it...lol
