Dear Sifus.

I need some advise here.

I owned Sony Androids TV (2018).

Do I still need Androids Box to play all of my downloaded 4K Movies(size more than 40GB).

Right now I play all of the movies using Kodi V18 installed inside the Sony Androids TV.

Your advise is highly appreciated.

kodi default resolution is only fhd, u can check at Kodi system settings.

for 4k better use sony own media player/mxplayer/kmplayer, easier

Hello sifus,

Newbie on Android box and read the page 1. Very informative by TS.

However, I have a question regarding the android boxes that are for sale with pre-installed channels in Lazada. The vendors claimed that there is access of thousand of channels for free (sports, drama, movies, etc).

However, are they really free for life? Or is there a catch?

Haha i wont buy 4 lifetime crap

The catch is real laugh.gif rclxub.gif

That depends... First of all, you'll need to verify if your model is one of the Bravia's that wrongly reports resolution settings to installed apps. If this is the case, then yes.. Kodi will wrongly assume yours is a 1080p display and won't push for 4K.. Another thing is that previous Kodi were designed to render their GUI as 1080p instead of 4K.. Why? cuz it's being powered by the CPU and not the GPU and they didn't want lower powered CPUs to struggle trying to render the GUI as 4K all the time..(This setting may have changed on the recently released Leia..I haven't had the time to really go through its change-logs). However, during playback, the video signals are handled by the GPU and will output 4K, HDR, etc as per display and media content. So if you've checked all this plus using a 4K port on tv, HDCP is on and 4K cable..and fine with this? no need to get another device..

Else, I know for certain that the Shield is one of the few Android TV OS devices that can render Kodi's GUI at full 4K all the time. So if you feel the UI, icons or playback is too blurry on your TV, despite settings all good? Then, yup... You may need to get an external device to max benefits.

Unfortunately, we refrain on discussing such in here.. There's an IPTV section though and the usual advice when all else fails? Google knows all.. icon_rolleyes.gif

An easy misunderstanding.. See the thing is, once names and or experiences are introduced.. It'll inevitably lead to discussions of where and how to get.. Worse, this is a public forum and given the government's recent stance on banning and or seeking criminal suits?....Not a good idea. So.. whistling.gif

Hi any sifus,

I have a few questions, I'm currently using Rikomagic RKM mk12 (android version 4.4.2 kitkat) which my mum bought 5 years ago. Here is the product: http://www.rikomagic.com/en/product/showpr..._63_pid_20.html

1) I realised that there are many china apps (iQiyi, Tianmao, molitv) are not working, its either they keep buffering or due geo restriction. How can I fix this?

2) Where can i download apps (livetv, english movies, hk drama) which are compatible with 4.4.2 version.

Sorry im not a tech savvy person. Thanks everyone who reply me! notworthy.gif

That's an older device and today's minimum is at least Lollipop.. Better apps compatibility..

1. This too is normal.. For the ones still working, you can get a VPN/DNS service to go around the geo-restrictions. This + a healthy internet connection might help. Won't know until you try..

2. Try the garage sales or iptv section...or Google. We refrain from discussing such here. Some sellers allow trial periods before purchase. This is usually for a 24 hour period or longer. Use this to your advantage and test if it works on your device and internet connection.. Though I strongly recommend you upgrade to a better more app friendly box. It's not about how old, but how well.. Why? Cuz I and a few others are still using the Minix Neo U1 box. Yet, it was released 4 years ago back in 2015. smile.gif

Edit: Of course, while its a stable device...I wouldn't advise buying the Neo U1 today.. Cuz there are more powerful boxes than it.

Probably worth cuz I'm not a fan of that processor.. Nevertheless, I'd avoid Beelink and go for a Mecool instead. Mecool KM9?

What's the best value for money TV between 45-50" and what android TV box also to pair with so to be able to watch many channels, but most important to have in particular are:

some documentary channels, news channels and hongkong drama.

Wanna terminate astro and go 'modern'

Sifus, was wondering if there are any barebones android boxes that won't be a problem later down the line when govt decides to be funny. Plan to have it in a business location but not exactly public so I thought might be safer to get one that's SIRIM approved. Planning to have Kodi, YT and netflix on it. Nothing too crazy.

I bought the Amazon Firestick for personal use and been kinsa disappointed with it. Not sure if I should ask for any suggestions in improving it here or elsewhere as well.

Get the Nvidia Shield from Amazon USA.. Ship direct.. Most likely, will kena customs and SIRIM permit request.. You pay fine and voila.. Ticks all your boxes.. If you get lucky and it isn't held.. Seek out SIRIM yourself and get the permit.. It's about RM1XX or so.. sweat.gif
