Any replacement model/brand for Minix NEO X8-H Plus? Or should I just go for Minix NEO U9-H? My X8-H just died today after years using it. Used for Kodi + Netflix + Astro OTG + YouTube

Recommend me best bang for the buck. Not necessarily Minix brand.

Since you've been using the X8-H Plus and I assume for Netflix too... Are you still okay with its limited res and stereo audio? If yes? Easy, just upgrade to the Neo U9-H as it definitely ticks all the other boxes. You can consider Mecool boxes too.. But that'll be rolling the dice on the Netflix and AOTG front. IMO, the MiBox is primarily good for FHD/UHD Netflix and YouTube.. Has Kodi and AOTG issues.

I recommended Mecool cuz it's still good bang for buck and there be loopholes to get Netflix FHD on it. Just have to put in some work and hope it lasts long. It's not ideal but if that's what he wants.. smile.gif The rest of the apps he uses have been reported to work fine on Mecool boxes. I'm unsure about the KM9, but that's the latest. I expect the same apps compatibility but with better performance over the M8S Pro L.

I'm the TS over at the dedicated Kodi thread and have gotten many complaints about the MiBox and it's Kodi issues. It's not a recent thing.. Been happening a long time. Similarly, got ppl report the same about AOTG too.

Think the loophole is referring to running Corelec or something on Mecool boxes with Widevine L1 and using Kodi to watch Netflix...

7. Some cheap RM 200-300 S912 boxes...e.g., Beelink GT1, MXIII-II, Tronsmart S92, H96 Pro+, TX8 Max, M8S pro Android 7.1, etc. (I have Vensmile U1)

From first page, are these recommendation still valid?

budget Rm300 for a tv box.

Nvidia Shield... Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, Dolby TrueHD, etc.. Easy and guaranteed.. On the cheaper side.. Himedia Q10 Pro and Minix Neo U9-H.

Yep.. It's amazing that no other manufacturer has been able to come close to it, much less toppling it from it's number one spot. Shows how much work dem Nvidia engineers and devs put into it..

I used Minix Neo U1 then Nvidia Shield TV. So far no complaint on NSTV as compare to Minix. Yes NSTV so far the best no regret to own it at all.

Can someone recommend me good android box ≤ rm300? Prefer if got preload channels since give to dad who is technophobia. Pls give me link to Lazada I will buy from there.

Use wireless to connect to router and only got streamyx line since unifi not available.

Don't care about 2k/4k since his TV is 4~5 years old.

Hi. I need help for my TVBox. I have a Plus TV TVBox, now off market and has changed to StarTV. Does anyone has the firmware for Startv because Plus TV is unable to use anymore or can help me fix my tvbox?

Nvidia just refreshed the line up on 2017.... So far no news on replacement yet and I doubt they will do so..

Simple reason is because all other box out there didn't have the raw power to match it...

AFAIK, there be no credible news of a replacement anytime soon. But I hope when it does come, I don't doubt it's be even better. If they even plan on releasing new HW in the future, it's good that they are taking their time to make sure it's all good..

For sale? Need to keep an eye on Amazon. nod.gif

TLDR: No extreme spoon-feeding welcome.. Sorry.

Be a great son leave your dad with easy to use Astro... Some things aren't worth the hassle.. No joke.. However, if you still feel the need to saddle him with "problems" and prepared to be on-call day/night when issues crop up? Which they will eventually..especially on slower Streamyx network... See page one first!!...Then be sure to read the last 20 or more pages... Understand the stuff you are getting him into and why I wouldn't recommend any boxes to you.. As yet.. Heck, take the time to read and you'll figure out what to buy d..

Sorry, even for known brands.. There are hardly any proper repairmen for such boxes.. Those who can are mostly HW tinkerers who willfully dabble with such electronics. Did you try a factory reset and this didn't fix the issue? What's the issue anyways? If it's a hard brick, as in it won't power on at all? You could try another compatible power adapter to see if that's the issue.. If still no nothing? Let it go and buy another box.. No choice.. But this time, try to get from the popular brands.. Cuz then better support, warranty and build quality.
