ALL boxes will do.. Wrong question to ask.. Question you should be asking is what box for ...then list services or features you intend to enjoy.. and budget.. Go read page one.

Yup.. As expected. If not clearly stated from it's release... predicted it'd be an issue.

This box fares worse than it's M8S Pro L overall I think despite higher Antutu

Now awaiting the MXQ G12 review....

Yeah.. I didn't watch the video before commenting earlier. Just watched it and wow..performance is definitely not as expected.. It's really bad.

*Poor Gaming.
*Poor 4K 60fps and 1080 ohmy.gif YouTube playback.
*Failed 4K h.265 60fps playback.. 30fps plays smooth though.
*With such processor, having Ethernet at 100Mbps instead of gigabit is a massive fail.
*No official Netflix or Chromecast. There are workarounds or rather alternatives.. So this may not be an important issue for some.
*His summary and recommendations sums up my exact feelings. Unless that particular device was a faulty unit and or fw is shit (I suspect both), the the box given the M8S Pro L's performance and it's hardware should have done much better. I'm surprised and hope it's just a fw issue, cuz then a couple updates later will fix the bugs.

I usually download movie to HDD and play. Prefer to have optical output connect to my Hi-fi to play Dolby. Any other similar feature player to recommend?

The HiMedia Q10 Pro will work nicely for such purpose.. I'd say consider the Minix Neo U9-H... But the HiMedia does well and you might find the HDD enclosure handy too.

Looking for replacement right now. Thanks for your recommendation.

Yup, the Minix no such enclosure or feature.. So go with the HiMedia Q10 Pro... My main con with it, is that it's quite "old" even though it's still an excellent box.
