Am considering Himedia Q10 Pro.

Looking for HDD playback, optical output.

Any cons about this player?

Depends.. Every device has its cons.. What are your concerns?

I usually download movie to HDD and play. Prefer to have optical output connect to my Hi-fi to play Dolby. Any other similar feature player to recommend?

The HiMedia Q10 Pro will work nicely for such purpose.. I'd say consider the Minix Neo U9-H... But the HiMedia does well and you might find the HDD enclosure handy too.

Ha ha.... HDD enclosure is one of the main feature I'm looking at. My old Asus player "kaput" suddenly sad.gif
Looking for replacement right now. Thanks for your recommendation.

Minix Neo no HDD enclosure right? My movie collection all inside 3.5" HDD

Yup, the Minix no such enclosure or feature.. So go with the HiMedia Q10 Pro... My main con with it, is that it's quite "old" even though it's still an excellent box.

Yes, 2016 model. Am wondering why don't they release new model?

LC Marketing has shop kiosk in digital mall PJ at level 1 near the escelator. if anything happen, just go send your box there.
but if you buy directly at his shop, the price is higher than in lelong. LOL

Would it be recommended to use 3.5" HDD Enclosure then connect by the USB port to play movie.

If SPDIF (audio) is important, which TV Box model is recommended?

See page title.. Read last 20 or so pages.. Return when less of a noob.. As for the Lazada link? Good luck with such..
Most boxes can run games easy and connect gamepads.. Other questions is compatibility.. Game playing smoothly and which gamepad to get..I recommend GameSir pads.. Though some boxes work well with Xbox/PS3/PS4 pads.. Your preference...
Wrong.. Ain't all about the RAM and or latest processor.. It's all about the Hardware-FW combo. So lesser specs can run just fine.. Remember, these aren't daily driver mobile devices that will have multiple apps running simultaneously.. Most often we just run one main app and close it to run another.
Yes, it'd be better.. Theoretically, you will get better speeds that way.

If audio is really important, you'd be thinking HDMI connections all the way and not SPDIF.. That has limitations. Also, what happened to just getting the Q10 Pro?

HDMI audio better than SPDIF? Google and get my answer.
However too bad my old audio system only can support SPDIF and not HDMI

Q10 Pro still one of my top list smile.gif Just thinking what would be the better option than Q10 Pro

Just get my TV box and now explore the limit of what my Himedia Q10 Pro can do for me.

1st Question:
I'm using Unifi Hypp TV (the original Hypp TV box). Compare to the Hypp TV box, using the Unifi PlayTV app seems get a lower / worst streaming quality. Any setting to set? Or this is the limitation of App version?

2nd Question:
AstroGo App seems easily hang in Q10 Pro?

Ques 1: Yes, this is expected as the app was made for small screens on mobile devices.. No FHD there.. The default supplied STB's app has much better resolution. No setting to set to make it better.. So the STB is recommended over the app.

Ques 2: No idea.. There are 2 versions.. 8.2.4 and 8.2.6... Switch between them to find that which may work best.

Understand Unifi no more supply the STB anymore. So are we going to get lower quality once the STB spoil?

Can it be because one using dedicated port. Besides the password is different for the app version and STB version. Not sure can it be different.
