Not worth getting b550 board anyway since it will be replaced by Zen 5 mobo.
The reason AMD gave due to bios size is kinda of bollocks cuz even x570 have 16mb bios chip
*
Wasn't that X570 only supports 3rd gen CPUs? hmm.gif

Also I think it will probably end up like what Zen 2 CPU support on A320 - AMD won't support it officially, but the motherboard makers will do it anyway icon_idea.gif

I guess so but if the reason is due to bios chip thing, mobo manufacturer can always say the bios is only for xx gen like they already did now (bristol ridge cpu not supported..etc).
Fingers crossed on that one, but based on HWUnboxed, AMD wouldnt give AGESA for Zen 3 unlike with Zen2 where selective BIOS update is available for older chipset. sweat.gif
*
Let's just hope that motherboard OEMs/hardware partners/tech media can pressure AMD to reverse this decision or provide a reasonable compromise - even XMG got thrown into a curve ball after they found out that Zen 3 no longer supports 400 series chipset (despite they are claiming otherwise) icon_idea.gif

Same goes to MSI as well too icon_idea.gif

IMO, true reason is manufacturer.

Although manufacturer can do anything they want, the manufacturers can also do whatever they want.....  sweat.gif
The last and most controversial incident like this was AMD's shitty 5600XT launch.

As original spec was designed to fight GTX1650, thus hardware was only required to perform as such, most manufacturers cheaped out and made the bare minimum to support that. Then AMD got sked and wanted to bios boost to fight gtX1650 Super with the same chip.
Even though GPU could fight, all other supporting components like VRM, RAM etc might not able to keep up to new performance requirements.
That lead to lots of big opps......

Spin that the other way around, which would reflect AMD's rationale on the motherboard supports  laugh.gif  laugh.gif  laugh.gif
CPU end, sked partners screw them
GPU end, screw partners over. laugh.gif
*
1650 or 1660? sweat.gif

Yeah, the launch of the 5600 XT is a disaster and even caused confusion between AIBs sweat.gif

IMHO AMD really needs a better product strategy and communication between OEMs and hardware partners. Their tone deaf and flip flopping approach of handling their partners is going to hurt them in the long run, IMHO wink.gif

Hardware Unboxed take on AMD discontinuing Zen 3 support on B450:

IMHO I think the problem really lies on AMD's lack of communication and miscalculating their competitors product strategy - I think they really need to work on these two icon_idea.gif

If and only if OEMs didn't nerf them with single channel memory + slow GPU + low quality display that is (all those nice stuff are currently Intel only it seems) sweat.gif

LOL. Core i9-10900K is a space heater. Insanely hot and power hungry.

https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/intel-...900k-cpu-review

From my opinion:
Productivity - No
Gaming - Yes
Power consumption - No
Thermals - No
Price (includes aftermarket) - No
*
Might need a very beefy board with very good VRMs (awaiting for HWUnboxed video on motherboard VRM temps for that) icon_idea.gif

10900K + decent Z490 + high end AIO/custom loop is not going to be cheap sweat.gif

On the other hand you can get a 3900X/3950X + B450 Tomahawk MAX/decent X570 + high end air cooler for less and you can get a much better all around performance, along with an upgrade path to Zen 3 (which is rumored to bring some serious IPC gains) icon_idea.gif

I have a feeling that some of the B550 boards may end up more expensive than some X570 here sweat.gif

Then there's no reason for B550 anymore unless you want to avoid the chipset fan sweat.gif

The really ironic thing is that the middle finger was originally directed at nVidia due to their driver support on Linux (particularly their switchable Optimus graphics) laugh.gif

Currently building a THREADRIPPER 3960X rig and surprisingly find bit difficult to find if AIO cooler that cover the size of TRX40 processor. Some mentioned support TR4 but will it fit TRX40 socket?

Currently I eyeing on below,
1. Enermax LIQTECH TR4 II 360 - Seems to be easier to get in Malaysia and recommended by some.
2. NOCTUA NH-U12S TR4-SP3 - Best Air cooling option
3. Wraith Ripper Cooler - Easiest to find local market here. Fancy looking

Will those cooler mention support TR4 work for TRX40 socket?
*
Scratch the Enermax off straight away as it has a fatal design flaw, in which gunk will build up in the AIO, causing improper contact to the CPU icon_idea.gif

I've just got my new ryzen 3600 and this is my first time using AMD. Before this I'm using Intel so I'm bit clueless where exactly should I find the ryzen driver.
Because I googled 3600 driver it go straight to this link and I just see the ryzen master only on the driver tab. Is that the correct link for the driver?
*
CPU drivers? All you really need is the latest BIOS from the board manufacturer + chipset drivers from AMD tongue.gif

*
Technically you can just reduce the VRAM allocated through the BIOS... but the iGPU will still use the RAM if the need arises icon_idea.gif

Another option to check RAM speed is via the Task Manager, in the Performance tab icon_idea.gif

In the performance tab, click memory then you should be able to see the actual RAM speed the RAM is running at icon_idea.gif

Yeah, Intel has been proven to be king of FPS, for 1080p only, extra 5 fps, with two to three figure of TDP increase, and the list goes on lol  notworthy.gif
1080p is so old skool, if one crank up the resolution CPU will become less relevant, it will responsible for FPS smoothness instead.

today standard should be 4K by norm, Doom Eternal is one of the best example, AMD should be praised for the invention of Mantle and the Latter Vulkan, and poor man multicore,
*
Even more cores/threads actually contribute to better gaming performance by improving 0.1/1% low FPS icon_idea.gif

i think min should be 6 to 8, more than that probably is more for streaming, raise the game priority to highest, and you might eliminate fps spike as well.
Microsoft os team is sleeping... the OS does not remember the program priority and needs a third party app. luckily i never paid any single cent for Win 10 notworthy.gif

I can play doom eternal 1440p with only 2 cores affinity but it had microstuttering. that's pretty annoying.
Currently i can only plays Doom series reboot in 2880p, the rest of the game will CTD or whole computer hangs lol
*
Never have microstuttering with Doom Eternal and game runs beautifully and smoothly, so I can't really comment on this issue laugh.gif

hye anyone using 3700x with stock cooler can share me the temp for idle and gaming.
just install this morning and while looking around for driver and setup everything, the max temp reach 70c [hwinfo, CPU Tctl/Tdie)]. but most time around 50-55cc. is this normal?
comes from i5 4th gen, usually idle around 40c only then gaming around 60-68c.
*
This is not a problem, in fact Ryzen 3000 chips are designed to run up to 95C, and will make use of all thermal headroom wherever possible for maximum performance icon_idea.gif

What games? Yeah likely 4c/4t isn't enough for games anymore - I think a 3600 should be a fairly substantial boost over your i5 that is icon_idea.gif
