QUOTE(sonyfanzz @ Dec 7 2020, 10:51 AM) how is your temp with auto oc? i keep getting temperature spike with pbo and auto oc so I closed both of them. so far no effect on my game fps yet Temp spikes are normal la haiyo. Been this way since Zen 2 and it's by design. You shouldn't disable PBO.

My theater room's noise floor is <30db (which is better than THX certified theaters), do you know how easily I hear things like fans ramping up? I always set a very long fan ramp up value to counter this issue.

QUOTE(hashtag2016 @ Dec 8 2020, 04:51 PM) depend your fans and casing,I guess I would hear that no matter how, unless whole system fanless. so .. Doesn't matter what fans nor casing lol. With my room's noise floor, you could even hear a pin drop (faintly) on the floor which is carpeted. I've had to deal with the noise from the PC, just something to live with it unless I put it in a closet (which would then create another heat issue). Testing the a new BIOS update for the CH8 here, ver 3003. So far so good, but nothing exceptional in terms of performance. But then again at this point, all I want from AMD is stability instead of more features.

QUOTE(targon @ Dec 9 2020, 01:46 PM) AMD has been busy adding more features like Sma support, undervolting support rather than fixing up instability on zen 3. They haven't fixed Zen 2 either. What's new?

QUOTE(TristanX @ Dec 9 2020, 04:20 PM) Yeah, just avoid Asus. Easy. Crosshair 8 hero here though... but managed to pick this up last year 12.12 sale at RM1.3k. So it was a no brainer at that time.

QUOTE(TristanX @ Dec 9 2020, 04:31 PM) That's great price. I won't complain if I see that price too. Yeah was initially planning for x570 Aorus Master, but come 12.12 the Aorus was RM1.5k. So... yeah, once in a blue moon kinda deal for the Asus.

QUOTE(hashtag2016 @ Dec 9 2020, 06:25 PM) Hi, nobody defend this defend that. What I am looking for is the bugs of zen3 ,and I think it would help me(or sb else) if anything new was found, thats all. If too few people complain about this to your mobo maker, nothing would happen. Keep complaining only in the places where those mobo maker won't even visit(eg: lowyat.net ),won't have any change. btw, I guess most people would rather simply change the fan curve or replace the coolers, that's all. not a big deal. the 3700x stock coolers is wraith prism, which is fine.. as long as u set the jumper on the cooler to 'Low' . Bruh we've been complaining at OCN and reddit where the company's actual reps are present. You want to do your research you go there, not fucking LYN where no one gives 2 shits about lol.

QUOTE(hashtag2016 @ Dec 9 2020, 07:03 PM) but lowyat.net is M'sia one of the biggest forum. I think I would prefer more localize info (If any, or happen to get some. no worry can get or not get it). nobody can guarantee everything u buy in the M'sia would be same as the rest of the world. for OCN.. as u see, I don't even post anything in the overclocking subforum here. so, I guess don't bother to register a new account there. Old account don't remember, no more. let bygone be bygone. p/s: I never thought I would post/reply anything in hardware section. register this forum mainly for fooling around and chichat in /k and some other subforum. nowadays forums too many attack this attack that, defend this defend that posts..quite bored. maybe I won't post anything soon , or maybe not. (whoknows ) Kthenbai.

Well so far the latest BIOS for CH8 is doing well for me. Haven't run into the 8d cold boot bug yet, but I expect to since it's so random.
Stability wise, it's all good so far. No WHEA errors, no random BSODs (just completed some projects off blender today), boosts are all within expected range. Yeah, I mean if it stays like this for the next few months, I don't know what else people want.

Personally haven't had a single random reboot with the 5900x on CH8 until today, on latest 3003 BIOS. Temps are alright too.

I'm just pissed that they lied about the whole 2000mhz 1:1 IF support. Absolute bullshit lol. Good luck even POSTing beyond DDR4 3800mhz much less to say want to attempt 1:1 IF.

QUOTE(targon @ Dec 18 2020, 08:06 PM) That's pure silicon luck if able to achieve 3800 at all Yes sure. But a good amount of 5900x can reach 3800mhz.

QUOTE(TristanX @ Dec 19 2020, 02:28 AM) Final test BIOS F31 for my X570 Aorus Master. Doing 3800/1900 now. [attachmentid=10730308] VSOC 1150 CCD 1100 IOD 1100 Fine tuned to 1050 for CCD and IOD as well. Wow you need 1.15 for VSOC? I'm getting away with 1.08v. 3800/1900 has always been stable, since day 1 on launch day BIOS. Just that I know my RAM can go faster, just cockblocked by this bullshit lie AMD pulled.

QUOTE(freakenstein @ Dec 19 2020, 11:08 PM) Regardless of ram timings and processor or the whole 5000 series? Can only speak for my own 5900x, anything above 3800mhz, regardless of timings, SOC voltage, DIMM voltage, IOD and so on, simply fail to POST. In the event it gets to POST, it'll go into a boot loop which would then require a forced shut down.

QUOTE(targon @ Dec 20 2020, 12:00 PM) By ur reasoning, we do need a specialized chipset just for 5000 series just for trouble free compatibility. And there's ppl out there hoping to put in a 5000 cpu into b450. They're just courting more trouble and Bsod. AMD shot themselves in the foot by trying to cram it back down with x570. Tbf, x570's development was rushed and many things were not complete on day 1, even until today. But they couldn't just be like Intel either where they force you to go with an entirely new chipset just because they think it's funny. More over, this is the end of AM4 and AM5 will be launching with Zen 4, that's a whole new platform again. Who knows how that'll go considering they can't get their shit together with AM4, which is already over 4 years old now.

QUOTE(Bonchi @ Dec 27 2020, 11:03 AM) id rather amd add some stability testing into their roadmap rather than chasing numbers to match or surpass intel in performance of certain areas but sacrificing overall stability. Their R&D is moving to new architecture too fast making older gens like zen2 losing support without even bother to fix the problems. and just barely a year old. their way of telling you the work around of fixing issues is literaly telling you to buy their latest hardware. zen and zen plus users will know best.. They’re literally left in the dirt with a problematic barely 3 year old pcs. I agree. Understandable they wanted to chase numbers because it's the only way to bridge the gap to Intel, as far as majority of consumers are concerned that is. But they've chased the numbers game for far too long now and it's mind boggling that Zen 3 being a refined Zen 2 has more problems than its predecessor which already had over a year of after launch "fixes".
